Trustworthy Honest Servicing, does it really exist???
Jim replied to StormVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
Well a lot of us use (or used to use!) Stealth Racing, who are based in Southam near Coventry.. very well known in the VW scene, and exceptionally reliable. You can find their website here. I'm surprised you had bad experiences though with AmD as, again, they are held in very high regard by VW, Audi, and Seat owners.. -
I asked about adding alloy wheels onto my policy once, and they managed to quote about another 25% onto my premium. And that was when I was paying top whack for my Corrado.. about £1,500 a year. That was Direct Line though. They don't exactly like modified cars!

Yeah.. I can understand that mate. I didn't wanna come across as being a miser, but its just not worth it. Insurance companies love to crap on their customers!! :(
-
edd - at the end of the day, its your call. I personally would be declaring anything I have had done, as I value my right to drive on the roads. As I say, insurance companies these days are out to screw us in every way possible.. and when they send out accident investigators, they won't be sending out people who don't recognise the difference between the clutch and brake pedals.. these are smart people who know the ins and outs of cars, because people are pulling these scams all the time. As I say, you can obviously do what you want - but you will regret it if you have a big smash, and they send a guy out to check over your car. The insurance company are agreeing to insure the car for a certain set of equipment.. if you change the equipment (uprate supercharger) they are no longer insuring a 160'ish BHP standard G60, hence the policy is void. If its such an issue, why not just buy a standard G60? Plenty quick, and then you don't have to worry about declaring anything.

Declare it all. Any excuse to let them invalidate your policy and they will do it. Its not worth the risk of getting caught.

Holy cow Ant.. hope you haven't done any major damage to your motor!! Combine that with your newly remodelled bonnet thanks to your alternator, you certainly aint having a lot of fun with your Corrado at the minute!! :( Did you manage to get any of the vids off your mates btw?? :)
-
Yes.. very sweet indeed! Really like this C a lot!!

What I don't understand is how people are finding it so easy to get away from paying from insurance etc.. in order to tax your car, you need insurance logbook and MOT. In order to do ANYTHING you need various proof of your right to drive a car. Are these people simply just buying cars, and just not taxing / insuring / MOT'ing them or something? The thing that annoys me the most is that most of these people get 'banned' from driving, and they simply walk back to their car and drive home despite being totally banned with no insurance, license or anything.. surely all the money we get raped for by the government every year on road tax, and tax on petrol should be going towards improving the traffic police & car theft / fraud systems? We are all suffering because of the governments inability to pull its thumb out of its backside.

Just like to say I had a good day out.. nice to meet Jason and check out his masterpiece of engineering - shame you never got a chance to run it on the 1/4 mile! And of course, nice to meet up with Ant and Chris as usual :D :) Ant, your car was sounding even more crazy than usual, and Chris, your car kept up with that Supercharged Golf spectacularly well!! :)

DtM - ergh - i'm really sorry for you :( I hope you somehow manage to track the person who did this and promptly vanished off the scene.. isn't that against the law? I'm sure you'll see a car driving around with blue paint and heavy damage on his passenger side sooner or later.. if they don't bother to stop after an accident, I doubt they'll be rushing to get their car fixed. Hope its not in the body shop too long :)

Here you go bud.. not so sure the colour coded grille suites red?
-
And just because its my only claim to fame, that Corrado R32 in the picture was done by my fair hand in Photoshop :)
-
Indeed.. when my Corrados backbox rusted off I was forced to drive around for a few days without a backbox at all.... I guess that would be no back pressure, but I found that it felt peppier without the backbox than it did when it had it on. Or maybe it was just the insane noise that it made :D

Funny.. I always heard the GTI-6 performance is REALLY overrated, and not as good as legend would have you believe.. I had always quite liked em until I heard a few rather negative opinions. Kinda put me off.
-
Its not a question of maps mate.. I always just feel really uncomfortable driving to places I don't really know or am really unfamilar with. FYI - The RAC have an excellent web based route planner at http://www.rac.co.uk - its what I now use most of the time because its so good :)
-
Ok.. i'll see about goin down then if the weather looks good :)
-
Ah feck.. I didn't realise it was this weekend. Provided the weather forecast is good, I'll try get a few mates interested in going as I don't actually know the way to the pod!

£100? Is that all? ;) I ended up spending around £2000 in my first year of ownership - it left me no money to sort any cosmetic things out at all and I was never happy with the state of the car. They are demanding cars. But rewarding :)
-
I don't believe it gives you a huge power increase.. a couple of BHP if you are lucky, but I think it makes the engine a little freer revving? Pfft.. with that stupendous noise, you'll feel like you just unleashed another 40BHP out of the engine ;) Its all about how you percieve it :D

It came across really well in the magazine and some features on the car are particularly nice - perhaps the eBay advert just didn't come across very well. That said I still think the front end is wrong, and there are a number of other things I don't particularly like on the car.. such as front bumper, the vents on the rear arches (why?!) and the centre exit exhaust. But it seemed a bit hypocritical of Performance VW to poke fun at Saxo (and similar) owners of cars with bodykits, yet say that its 'ok' to do such things on a Corrado because its a Corrado.. I admit there are a lot of badly done boy racer cars, but as the blue Corrado posted earlier this evening by Majik would testify, it definately works both ways, and PVW shouldn't be so quick to poke fun. So I guess some things on that car are nice.. it sits just right on those 18's, it looks immaculate, and some of the more subtle body mods are good.. but i'm definately not a total fan. If it didn't have the mashed up front end, I think i'd be more interested. Oh.. and this is just my opinion :) Please don't think I am trying to cause an argument or anything :(

I've been out in AndyVR6's K&N kitted car.. if you have never heard it before, prepare to be in for a serious treat. Low end revs & acceleration provide a very slight growl from within the engine that compliment the VR6's noises.. but once the car gets into its stride you won't believe the noise it kicks out. If you own a VR6, it really is the essential modification.. quite quite awesome.

The Worlds best corrado has arrived! (AND ITS NOT MINE)

Phone up and find out :D If you can resist hurling abuse at the guy that is ;) -
Likewise.. drove there so many times in only a year of ownership.. 2 rolling road days, 3 or 4 times for repairs, and once to book a service and discuss various work :)
-
Shouldn't that be banana smoothie? :) Looks good man :)
