Unfortunately there will be one fewer storm auto from tomorrow when I call my insurance company to accept their offer. I hate to do it as my car was in such great totally original condition but I can't afford to refuse their offer so won't be getting her back on the road. I see a sleepless night coming tonight as I loved her :( Matt

Hi Everyone Up until boxing day I had a superb condition totally original corrado storm auto in mystic blue. She had an almost unmarked exterior and the interior as good as the day she left the factory. On boxing day I was driving along a main road with my boys in the back when I was hit by a guy who said " I thought I was on a main road" :cuckoo: I managed to see him approaching from my right hand side which gave me enough time to brake and almost come to a standstill before he hit the front of my car. The guy who works for the police force admitted total responsibility which was a good start. My car was drivable so I drove home, it felt exactly the same as pre accident so I thought i'd take a closer the following morning when it was light, not being too worried. In the morning I removed the loose trim and took her to my local body repairer for the insurance company to inspect. Last week I had a phone call to describe the damage. Most of the front plastics will need replacing except for one of the headlamps and the spoiler, the drivers side wing can be repaired but would be better to replace, the bonnet and nearside wing are ok. The rad which was only replaced with a genuine one last year is in tact. The problem area is first 6 inches of the drivers side box section which has moved inboard towards the engine. Everything else is fine but this section will need cutting out and repairing as my repairer will not straighten this area of the car. My problem is that my insurance company has given me 2 options. Firstly they have given what I think is a satisfactory price to walk away from the car. The second is to have this money less £1415 to take the car back and repair at my own leasure and it will not be catagorised . The problem is that I need a car everyday and have 2 young boys to ferry around, I don't have time to fix her and need a car. I should take the money but I would hate for such a rare lovely car to be lost for ever and I would hate her to be taken for parts as It took me 3 years to find one in such good condition. My wife and lads were in tears when I said we won't be having her back. Because of this does anyone know of anybody who would be willing to take her off my/the ins company hands and get her back on the road to save her being scrapped, I can buy her back for £1415 and would let her go for this or even slightly less if it means she can be saved. What would you guys do in my situation? All electrics work inc heated seats spoiler and sunroof and she has just passed 100k miles. I have never posted pics on here before but I can email photos. Your thoughts would be much appreciated on this. Regards Matt

Hi Mr Sands, I was on the M5 last week and in Droitwich as well. My VR storm has has a private plate starting with M and ending in MMA so it may have been me. If so, spotted at last :D Matt

Update Got car running by tapping the immob unit, been for a short drive and runs ok. Stopped the car and wouldn't start again, fuse still ok. Tapped Immob again started wouldn't start etc, must be a dry joint in immob I think. Car now in a good place to work on, how is the easiest way to remove the immobiliser, it looks in a pig of a place to get out. Thanks everyone for your help so far. Matt

Hi Jim As 'Crazydave' said it does sound like the immob. I've just checked the fuses however and found 16 blown. The sunroof and spoiler weren't working but are ok now. What is the best way forward now, I need to fix asap , can I buy a new immob from VW and fit or is there a way to bypass. I don't have Vag com to fault check or reset anything. Going away on Friday and can't leave the car where it's currently parked. Cheers Matt

Thanks VAG-hag, the ignition is on, def worth a try. Matt

Whilst driving on the motorway on Friday I was thinking how well the car was going. I had to make a business call north of Telford so parked the car up for an hour or so outside the guys workshop. When I tried to restart the car it started and then immediately stalled. If I put my foot down it revs higher but still stalls in the same time period. I called Crazydave and he advised I clean the immobiliser box contacts under the spoiler switch and spray with WD40. After spending half an hour on this it still didn't start :( After a 3 1/2 hour wait the AA arrived, finally getting home at 10:30 in the evening. Does anyone have any advice on what I should be looking at next? It's a VR and I don't have VAG COM. Thanks Matt

Hi Wazza, I think it may have been you around 5 ways, I work by the central mosque and use the Rado most days, or the diesel MK IV when feeling a little hard up :) . Where abouts in Stourbridge are you? My Dad is in Wollaston although I live around 10 mls away now, just round the corner from him is a dark blue 16V. Matt
-
Blimey Hasan, how did you manage to sort that one out :notworthy: Hope you're well Matt

Can't believe how many Rado's I've seen over the last few days. There was one behind me on the way upto 5 ways island in Birmingham on Wednesday. A few miles later I saw a red one parked in a Tyre and exhaust bay in Oldbury. Today I saw a Blue 16v in Wollaston then a green VR6 lowered with I think 17's pulling out by Stourbridge rugby club, then a little further on a mint looking blue storm I think in Wallheath, for a minute I though someone had taken mine as I'd left it at home  . How many cars are there around the Stourbridge area?? Matt

Do the dealers still sell throttle cables and does anyone know how much they are? Cheers Matt

After the recent salt on the roads this was the first weekend it hasn't been either freezing or snowing so I gave the old girl a thorough going over :) . A jet wash under the arches and the floor a thorough wash on top and a coating of detailing wax. I even managed to use my new drying towel and microfibre cloth for the first time, the towel was brilliant. Finally topped up all the fluids and fitted some Lupo wipers. Whilst I was having fun my wife managed to break the washing machine and the wifi, yesterday it was the kettle, it's neverending. :( Matt

L xxx XLK and L xxx KFS. Both of these are near Tipton baths, I see them most mornings on my way to work and was just wondering who the lucky owner is Cheers Matt

Thanks very much for the pics and wire details, time to put my hat a gloves on and get outside :) Regards Matt

Until Reading this thread I didn't realise Corrados were fitted with temp sender. It's been bugging me for a while as every other v dub has them, my MFA only shows oil temp and the usual mpg and times. When I removed the bumper recently I didn't have a sensor, can anyone confirm the wire colours and where it meets the loom. Thanks Matt

I'm getting between 18 and 20 when driving to work in my VR auto. It's more than a shock when I was getting 45mpg out of my golf diesel. You only live once though :) -
If replacing the rear calipers which are the best ones to fit? Merry Christmas everyone Matt

In Wombourne today, a black VR6? with a red badge spotted by my 6year old(it may have been 16v!)and a dark coloured (not sure what colour)rado in Wolverhampton driving back from the Wolves v Burnley match last weekend, I was in mine but no end of flashing or hooting could get you to look accross :) It was v dark but there appeared to be a large dent in the rear bumper. Can I suggest that you contact oilman who is always very helpful. He can be found on this forum and many other car sites. Matt

Glad to hear you were relatively unscathed. I also hit a tree in my Audi about 10 years ago, I can vouch for them being very strong cars. I hit 'my' tree having gone sideways , full oposite lock for about 30 metres until I finally clipped the curb which push me head on into the tree, it didn't move!! I cracked the engine block and gearbox casing which wedged into the bulk head, I walked away with only a stiff neck, I was very lucky. The moral of the story is, be careful on icy roads, non of us are Walter Rhorl :( Matt

Neither of my heated mirrors work. Where is the best place to get replacements from and approx how much are they? Thanks Matt
