Collecting the car tomorrow…… already mapped out a route to take the long way home. :D

Love it! Great job!

Me too… but only 2 days to go! Picking up my car on Saturday. And I sold my old car today as well! WIN!

Thanks for your tips! I only had 25 minutes test-drive, but the Seller showed me the last MOT report and it says the suspensions are on its way out (it says there's a leak or something... I'm not technically-minded), so it's definitely one of the things that I have to upgrade within the next 12 months. It's got 11 month MOT so that gives me a bit of time to save some £££ :) I think I'll drive the car standard for a little while and access its brake/ride/handling before deciding what to do. Hopefully I'll have a chance to take a ride in other forum members' cars between now and next spring and then decade what to do! Suspensions, brakes & tires are those big expenditures that once you've made your decisions, you're pretty much stuck for the next couple / few years..... Thanks again!

You know what, that's actually not a bad idea just to get past the MOT thingie! Let us know how you get on! :D -
Cheers pal, a couple of small (and hopefully) paintless dent removals on the drivers door, and she'll be mint again. The last couple of years has taken its toll... Just read the whole thread....... I've just bought my VR6, and am picking it up this Saturday. Did you end up doing any suspensions mod to your Aqua Blue at the end? If so I'd be interested to know what did you do at the end. I'd like a good mix of ride/handling balance, with minimal drop (30-35mm?) of ride height. I really don't want a car that's too hard and crashy, after all the VR6 is supposed to be an all-rounder. Any other mods (brakes etc)? Cheers!

Really? The Mk.1 1.6 Focus hire car that I drove years ago handled pretty well. I’d love a Focus RS Mk2. :)

:) Mine is completely standard too; I don’t think it looks bad at all even with standard ride height. Though I’m planning to upgrade its suspension within the next 12 months so I may have it lowered by a tiny bit (35mm?). I quite like the standard BBS alloys on the G60s, so I may be tempted to change the standard Speedline to BBS. Am I nuts? :)

Only 41k on the clock? Must be one of the lowest here! :)

The other party admitted 100% liability! M&S should send me £150 worth of gift vouchers. :D

Hi, I’m new to the Corrado ownership. Please recommend me VW indy/specialists near Brighton for general maintenance, bodywork, service etc? I’ve heard of G-werks of Littlehamption, and will probably use them (or DG Autotech etc) for big upgrades / major work etc, but just wondering if there are any other cheap but good alternatives for smaller jobs. Somebody from another forum recommends JMR - John Mitchell Racing in Littlehampton, anyone had experience with them? What about for smaller jobs? Are http://pfeifferpartnership.com/ any good? I don’t mind using Corrado specialist for major upgrade but obviously I’m price conscious for smaller jobs. Many thanks!

Sorted my insurance, £640 for 10 months, fully comp with two years no claim bonus. Should have been £510 for 10 months but no thanks to the Marks & Spencer lorry driver who hit my Corsa last October while it was parked at home. Not impressed. I think I’m boycotting M&S. :bad-words:

Glad it's gone to a good home and somebody who knows what they're doing (i.e. not me :) )

I think that's a very typical standard answer for the late 20s / early 30s guys and gals in the forum, I know cos I’m one of them. :) There are many affordable coupes from that era such as Probe, Rover Coupe, Prelude, Celica, Calibra, 200SX etc, but I think the best looking of them all are the Corrado (German cool) and the Fiat Coupe (Italian flair). I can’t really comment on how the C drives yet, cos I’ve only had 25 minutes test-drive experience, but I remember journalists raved about the Corrado for it being one of the best handling FWDs at the time. That plus a big powerplant for less than £3k to fulfill one of my teenage kicks, why not a Corrado? :D

The dude & Kev, thank you for the tips RE: gearbox, they’re most helpful. I’ll have an extended drive to access the situation once I got the car. As much as I’d like learn the mechanical aspect of the VR6, my problems are: a – Car is parked on-street, so no access to drive-way / garage to work on the car b – I live in a small flat, therefore no space to store tools / parts c – Did I mention that I couldn’t tell a spanner from a fork? :) So if the gearbox really bothers me, I may have to pay somebody to check it out, even for simple jobs like changing the oil! BTW, during my 20/25 minutes test drive, I didn’t find any slippage with the clutch, and all the other 4 gears and reverse seem to be quite precise, so I think that’s a good sign. I need to get used to the ‘long-throw’ though!

I did! :) The Seller was pretty fair with the pricing I must admit. I went to see another car on Monday in North London with ‘dukest’; that car was in the similar price bracket but the mileage was doubled and the conditions were no where as good. The Seller of the Ice grey violet showed me the MOT report, which mentions that the brakes may need replacing before next MOT, which is 11 months away. That’s ok cos I wanted to upgrade to 288mm anyway. My current plan is, assuming nothing mechanically went wrong, I’d wait until next MOT/Service (Mar 2011) before doing any upgrade/replacement. I’d take the car to DG Auto / G-werks and have everything done in one go. I can’t afford upgrading at the moment anyway! :( I’ll get the dent and bonnet cable sorted though.... ‘Dukest’ – Thanks for the tips RE: fuel, I didn’t know that! Also I didn’t realise the exhausts are that expansive. I’ll get the brakes / suspensions done first then. ‘Swompy’ – I’ll get the stickers after I got the car, cheers!
