don't know anything about carbs mate, i think a bigger problem is keeping the engine at right emissions to suit your year of registration which is a 2ltr isn't it?

the fact our future taxes are getting spent on a ridiculous attempt to stimulate the economy annoys me, realising rados are getting scrapped because of it really :bad-words:

i replaced these on my engine, try the search, the bearings are available :)

eventually found my rebuild mojo, so carried on gas flowing the inlet runners on my 16v head.... after leaving it untouched for nearly two months :( this weekend plan to finish the inlets and get cracking on the shorter/ smaller and hopefully easier exhaust runners...

you measure the one you have on at the moment, if it's non in/ around 52mm then it's the smaller 40mm one in summary the larger one = better top end, thinner one = better low end, its all about gas speed i'm fairly sure the TB trick you've heard is for the 1.8 8v golfs there was an aftermarket TB called the webber fire breather, basically a large single butterfly, but you hardly ever see these anymore... i missed out on one a few months ago :(

yeh that'll be the cams keeping you revving longer really need to get moving with mine, lost the modifying mojo recently, seeing someat like yours rewets the appetite let us know how you get on at stealth

i just used the standards studs i was working off four axle stands in the drive (goggles required :) ) am fairly sure I offered it up from underneath

very nice engine you have there, looks similar to mine in the garage (in bits anyway) hows the engine breaking in, are the gains noticeable?

you'll be able to squeeze it in fine, got mine in no real issues always use new exhaust studs, they weaken and are more prone to fracture with the heat they endure, so save yourself/ next owner the headache of having to deal with them breaking off as they cost pence each :)

if it's in the bay then all you can really do is keep flushing it through with water alternative is to remove blocl and get it tanked at an engine shop

if you mean outside of block, get some 'gunk' degreaser from halfords, scrubbing brush and soapy water - brings grime off a treat to avoid complications try and avoid electrical connectors

yeh agreed as above, that's the accumulator and only needed on mechanical fuel injection to maintain fuel pressure when fuel pump is off presume you'll get better fuel pressure to your rail with that removed -
agree with those sentiments, and have just decided to keep my daily following a good service the only thing with finance is you will probably own a higher value car once the finance is paid - probably still not worth it for the overall saving tho horses for courses and all that lil b - let us all know whether you buy this or not
