is it possible that the water pump is failing? i.e not clearing the airlocks like it would do?pressure is what clears airlocks, garden hose in one end and an open connection at the other end ,blast mains water through it,thats what we did on gravity heating systems that got airlocked,im guessing it would be ok to use this method
on a cars system?
ill have to try that one day lol it'd prob work straight away. I did it the more conventional way at fast idle for bout half hr occasionally topin up wher necessary
-
As long as you fill up from the top radiator hose you shouldn't have a problem with air locksYeh I ended up trying that and it seems to of worked. heaters are hottish and fans kickin in now. job done I think going to give it another once over tomorrow before I carry on as usual, just to be sure.

Im about to smash my car up with a hammer!!
Ive just did a coolant change because it was badly needed only to find out my rad was fookd. so replaced rad today in my 1.8 16v.
Now wen iv gone to top tank up and and let run on fast idle Im obviously got sum horrible air locks trapped in system.
Will sumone pls help me im at my wits end i cant shift them.
The car started warming up and heaters wher hot at one point fan kicked in and all seemd normal then 5mins later everything went cold on heaters and coolant started bubbling from tank car began to overheat
what am i doing wrong any help wud b appreciated ta
-
to fit the slam panel in properly its not a big job really its just messing with all the bit that are secured to it which can be pain in the ass. Im in process of fitting new rad today most of the front end is off my car now it just makes the job ten times easier plus u can see whats behind ther and do other small repairs that will ultimately keep your car on the road longer. its just good practice

Its something im planning in the very near future, becos I think my current 1.8 16v is about to fall out of my car and I just want more power!
Ideally turbo conversion!
Im toying with both agu and 2.0 16vt route while im saving the pennies!
Its going to be a daily driver so nothing too radical...
having read through alot of the threads on here possible applications have there ups and downs
-
Dont want to start a war on here lol but what engine conversion would you say was the best?
Easiest to mod?
1.8 16v - ??

-
I already have 4-branch I want to keep, Just the system im after really!

Do porsche brakes fit??
-
I have a 1.816v setup currently. What oem brake upgrade will fit as a direct bolt on upgrade? Im looking at an engine upgrade in near future?
thanks

The QPE kit is a separate ECU already mapped and is geared towards making the conversion as simple as possible and still using vw sensors etc I think. The donor car route or full engine and loom and ECU may be a better way to do it of your looking for factory look to the install. You would need to defeat the ECU immobiliser if you not fitting the full clocks and ignition and key for full factory operation then you obviously want to factor on getting that mapped as well as you sound like that's the way your going.
How do you get round the ecu immobiliser? is there company's that will do this? sorry if im sounding stupid ere...

Nice Corrado 8)It looks like someone with, what can only be described as a Japanese Ford Escort, has parked behind you. :D

engine at mine its an Agu with ko3s turbo and matching injectors, so would have to be mapped accordingly and thats if the thing starts.
