Pat_McCrotch replied to Yandards's topic in General Car Chat
Dammit :( My xbox still hasn't been received in Germany yet despite it being a week :( Shame as I wanted to be part of this -
I think I've got £3.60 in between my seats. You've got to start somewhere

The CF Forza 3 Race League, Final League Standing Pg 1

This looks like great fun. I'm buying a copy before the end of the week :D -
I think thats probably the main issue really. Not the cost to buy it, but the cost to relocate it and get it working again :( I imagine to get a full set of pressings would run into hundreds of thousands or euros, and thats without getting them working! But at the end of the day I'm in no doubt that some of this will be sold, especially the rear quarter panel and wing presses.

The Karmann situation has got me thinking recently; where exactly is all the tooling for the Corrado? When a car ceases production, the presses are either sold and moved overseas (The MK1 Golf to South Africa, MK2 Jetta to China and the B7 Audi A4 to Spain) or sold to pattern part specialists. But as we all know there are no non genuine Corrado panels to be had so they must still be somewhere at VW or Karmann. Pre-facelift wings are pretty much the first body panel to have been made obselete. So the ball has already started rolling. Which got me thinking about another possibilty. The Delorean is currently being made in the USA using original panels and old tooling. Imagine if someone were to purchase the tooling and make an up to date Corrado? MK4 Golf interior with a 3.2 VR6 engine? Yes please  The cost to purchase the tooling and make a new bodyshell would likely mean you'd have to sell them at £25k + each. But I'd have one  Anyway, back to reality!! Has anyone ever actually ask Karmann about this? It would be a tragedy if Karmann still had these presses and they got lost to the administrators :censored:

163k for me so far :) Going up fast as shes a daily driver

They never offered a RHD Corrado with Airbags. As they had to have that knee bar which was pictured earlier in the thread. Which ETKA states is LHD specific. Good job really, don't fancy having a T3 Steering Wheel
-
No worries mate, any time. You scratch my back and I rub your crotch, it's all good 8) Just ordered some classic green paint and took two weeks off work in December for the painting 8) Looking forward to getting it done but not the hard graft

Shows how much you know Tom. Bear in mind I haven't got around to fitting the Sollihoofs yet though...

My Rear adjustable koni shocks, whilst still doing there job are setup a little high. The problem is that the previous owner didn't grease the threads so they are now nice and rusty :( I also don't have the tool. IMHO they are setup about 10mil too high. I was wondering whether anyone could offer any advice as to whether they could be 'revived' with rust romover or whether it would be just as easy to buy a new pair. Anyone know the best place to buy some if thats the case?

I got (or am getting) £150 out of the swapover :)

Nah couldn't find the part number for the orange ones. The ones I ordered were the same width as OEM but had a rubber membrane built into them. They also only came with metal hangers, which I had to break off to fit,

It's bizzare really. I wouldn't say it's a revelation in any sense of the word and my centre rubbers were about 3 inches long they were so stretched and old  so maybe just the lack of 'movement'. It always did feel like something was loose underneath but I could never quite put my finger on it, perhaps the extra exhaust movement put a little more strain on the rear engine mount which gave that effect, lol!. But when I put the T4 ones on they barely stretched 5mil. Thats how much better they are than standard.

Right, about time I gave this a half decent update. Not many pictures really as most of the work has been under the skin :) Needless to say this is something that has turned from a hobby/daily driver into a near enough full blown restoration! Since the last update; - New Cobra Alarm - Eibach Roll Bars front and rear - New Track Control Arms, ball joints, ARB links etc - Battery Bag ;) - New Front Grille & new headlamp glasses. - 80% of the trims inside 'recliped' with new clips and any missing ones replaced. No rattles!! - New black Cloth Interior, new bolsters etc on the drivers seat. I've had some stick for doing this from people on here for doing this. But screw em, it's my car :nono: Big thanks for Mr kevwayhard for his help in the swapover with herisites :salute: - T4 Transporter exhaust rubbers for the centre box. Exhaust now feels amazingly rigid and gearchange seemed to feel a little better after doing it as well. Probably because of less movement maybe? But not back for a fiver! * MOMO Steering wheel. The VR wheel, although nice to hold, had suffered from the usual leather wear and I was getting quotes of £200+ to get it retrimmed and a brand new one was coming in at over £450  * New door card upper trims. Someone had mashed them up previously in the cars life and finally managed to source a new pair :) * New tool kit and holder. Bits were missing so replaced as neccesary. * Car completely hammerite waxoiled underneath and any broken underseal rust treated and replaced. She's amazingly planted on the road now and drives as tight as my R32, if anything I prefer the steering on my Corrado to the R32 and I love the feedback it gives me. Just how a Corrado should be :hitler: Unfortunately, I got a bit indulgent and bought a lovely set of 17" wheels for her but forgetting my own rule; Alloys always come second to bodywork :nono: I was a bit foolish to order them really and it was a moment when I let my guard down. Anyway, the respray has currently been put back to December due to my Dad restoring his 57 Ford Fairlane. p.s. Just a quick thanks to Mr Haywire for all his help over the last 6 months. Without him and his expertise I probably would've given up long ago, sold it and not realised how great these cars can be when they have a little love put into them :salute:

I'm listening to "Lindsey Buckingham - Under The Skin" at the moment on my nightly jog. It's a bit of a contradiction really; it sounds very basic (best to class it as acoustic/easy listening) but the more you listen to it you realise its actually very slickly produced. I highly recommend it to anyone who owns an iPod and does revision/night jogging etc like me. Seems to sound 10 times more amazing when you're on your own and theres no one else about.

How much was the Green Umbrella, is that in the VW Accessories catalogue? ;) :) Looking good. Can't go wrong with TSW wheels really :) I'm currently looking at new wheels for my Corrado and it's a bloody nightmare getting the measurements perfect. I finally bought a set of 17 inch wheels today in a design I liked and then when weighing them in Mr Haywires wheel/bathroom scales found they were 9.9kgs each! :( Typical

culshaw; I quoted the comment I had issue with. If anything I'm trying to move the thread on from the imminent "Woe is me/wheres MY benefits/bloody imigrants!?" type thread that usually happens when those sorts of comments are thrown about. Telling legally British people to 'Bugger off where they came from" grates me, sorry :brickwall: I merely I came to the assumption that the comment was related to Arab/Muslim people was because the 'why don't you go back to your own country' comment is usually the knee-jerk response people who don't understand why they protest or the fact they can't go back to there country. I apologise to KIP for putting that assumption forward, but I'm just saying that comment 'threw me back' so to speak. The suggestion I'm somehow trying to twist the thread into an argument is misguided and doesn't really do my posting history justice :cuckoo: I'm someone who has a deep personal interest in the Middle East so I tend to get a little 'passonate' about these things ;) and it's not all terrorist freeloaders as the Daily Mail would have most people believe  Sorry again KIP :salute:
-
It wasn't me ;) To be honest, I'm now thinking of putting the £6k i'll have to stump up for the Scirocco R towards a Turbo or supercharger on the R32. 265bhp or 450bhp+? Hmmm ;)
-
Sorry kip but not sure how to take some of the comments in your last post. Apologies if your anger made it sound more vitrolic that it should have been but at the end of the day we are all immigrants, nobody has occupied this land forever. As it happens I'm disgusted with this Countries foreign policy and open support of Terrorist States. But does that mean I should leave? I fail to see the connection between skin colour and the liking of the Union Jack either :camp: You can only speculate what happened to the car, but the chances of it being due to the Union Jack and a Muslim/Arab (as I guessed thats what you meant) IMHO are slim to none. Whats more likely is a drunken person wanted to impress mates and picked on the oldest car which they thought no-one would care about. But as you say, lifes a bitch :ignore: and I'm sorry to see its happy to a fellow Corrado owner :(

Does anyone have any pictures of bi-colour wheels on Corrados? Preferably on darker coloured cars. Black on silver, black & polished etc etc :)
-
Theres always a Tornado Red J plate G60 in the Bingo car park near Glasswells in Ipswich every morning. Anyone on here?

-Deleted- ;)

If the RS4 was sold now it would be nearer £55k due to the flucations in the Euro. £28k for that spec (especially when a fully specced S3 with 5bhp less is £38k) isn't too bad.
-
Joe, so as a 'prime' potential Golf R owner...whens my test drive?!?! I pressume there will be a couple doing the rounds so us R32 boys can get out of our gas guzzlers?
-
Probably because the Scirocco/Corrado had no heritage as a four wheel drive car. The Golf has had 4wd since the 80's with the Rallye and R32 models.
