It's totally bearable, you can only just about feel a 'tiny' amount of vibration from the engine at idle. and that's only becasue mine is running lumpy because it's not firing right and it has 268 cams and a lightened flywheel. you don't notice any vibration at all on the move, but the car feel REALLY tight.
  2. either way, they want putting back in their factory positions.
  3. runs sh1t all the time really, but it has been worse in this hot weather....
  4. it's been running perfect. I cna't see it going down after a months use, not when I've been running VR's for 5 years and this the only time i've ever changed one. The sensors I am suspect about, is the outside air temp, as it seems to read a little high, 32 degrees the other day. then again, I do have it mounted inside the air filter! Also, because I'm running a 1991 passat inlet manifold, there is no where to plug in the inlet manifold temp sensor, so I juat have that sitting in the open air. so I think it could be confusing the ECU if it thinks the air insode the manifold is colder than that outside?
  5. it's brand new. as is the coil pack, and the plugs.
  6. you don't, you take it all out and leave it on the grass. I''m thinking it's not injectors, as the plugs look fine, the mpg isn't too bad either, and it's producing black smoke. Just ordered some Autotech 10.4mm ones  already tried another fuel pump, as that's what I thought it was. going to try another FPR. need to fix that blowing exhaust too.
  7. I only like BBS's with black centres. stick them on ebay, you'll get daft money for them. then buy something rarer.
  8. shcrick isn't on. I daren't put it on until I can get it firing on 6 properly. I've lost count of the amount of times I've had the plugs out....

question is, can you afford a new bonnet? get a vibratechnics one....you won't regret it.
  10. I'm going to borrow the AMD ecu off my mate again. I did notice that the 4000rpm flat spot came in after I'ld swapped back tot he stock one. but I'm sure it still went pretty well up top. certainly better than it does now.
  11. VR6 running a bit lumpy, and well down on the power. ran a pathetic 14.9 on sunday, the rest of the times were either a flat 15 or 15.3. The car hasn't got enough power to smoke the slicks, I reckon 170bhp tops, if that. so that ruined my racing on sunday, and meant I couldn't race on monday either as there was no point with it running like that. it takes loads of cranking to start it up, sometimes it stalls immediately, or revs up and down. it hesitates at low revs (i.e. not very good throttle response), massive flat spot at 4000rpm, then pretty much flat about that. no massive kick at 4500rpm like it was doing last month. My mates rover 220 turbo was all over it, he was practically pushing me along the road. I know it can't be anything major, becasue when it is running right it goes like f*ck, and is certainly quicker than my mates mk2 turbo, and that runs a 14.4. I know the power has been there, but where it's gone now I just don't know. I just never realised it was running flat as it's been running on practically 5 cylinders for the past fortnight due to an arcing out plug lead, so when I fixed that I thought it was running fine. and my mate who I took out in it also thought it felt REALLY quick. considering it had 2 people in it, a full size 16" spare, a tool box, and a trolley jack in it, and it weas still quicker than his car and that runs mid 14's. but for some reason it just wouldn't perform at all on the day, and the more I drive it the more I can feel the flat spots. my mate said it puffs out black smoke when I change up a gear. to me, that's unburnt fuel, either from an excess of fuel, or becasue it's not burning due to a poor spark or whatever. sounds logical?  :(
  12. My mates ran a 14.7 with just an air filter mounted behind the bumper and the carpets and passenger seats stripped out. so 14's should be easy. in fact, if it runs a 15 at all I'm going home and it's going up for sale.
  13. GPC sell crap pattern ones. get an AKG one form Euro car parts, nly £100 plus VAT and it's actually a Valeo one, so OE quality.
  14. I bought a compressor instead, it's easier (and lighter  ) seats will be coming out in the morning.
  15. try it in the dry, with slicks, or 18PSI in your road tyres and watch the times come down. I'm puttingthe tyre softener on my slicks tonight in preparation, I hope it doesn't rain.....
  16. I think it was GTI Festival last year. It was the first day I had the car on the road, and it was running like sh1t becasue I didn't have the schrick controller wired in properly and it wasn't opening up.
  17. Gareth is indeed 4x100. seat ibiza 305x25mm discs, seat carrierews cmachined down 4mm, boxster s calipers and bolts and pads. I'll get some pics and part number up when my new set arrives. I'm trying to work out fitting issues of both front and rear boxster and boxster S calipers to cover all options. rs2 brackets are minging, they are cast, the seat ones are cnc machined all over.
  18. much, much better
  19. I snapped my vice in half trying to take one of those cam sprocket bolts off! had to buy 2 new sprockets, cam trigger and 2 bolts.....£60 :|
  20. no mate :-P ....i didnt say it was to my taste  .........but was just pointing out that you were getting a tad uppity yesterday about kev and chrisP's wee discussion yesterday :-P you were slagging off my mates company......I had to say something.
  21. aw, come on, you can't actually think that engine bay looks good??? far too ricey, it should be a civic... not a corrado.
  22. well, I'm on that first email address right now (been on it all week actually) and I haven't had anything off you?!?! haven't checked my home account since sunday. If you've got a hotmail account it probably won't come through. and if you've mentioned ebay at all it definitely won't.
  23. It's a right mess! far too much stick on tat. :| Nice seats and dials though. (and no sunroof, oooh)
  24. What's the point when you can get used Porsche Boxster S Brembo calipers for about £250? use the SEAT carriers (about £15 each) and discs( about £50 each), bingo. Look in this months PVW at the red Vento, I sorted those out for him. you can even see my badly head on page 3 too!
