Dealer doesn't have yellow temp sensor for VR6...
PhatVR6 replied to aclwalker's topic in Suppliers Forum
Ask coxy about this. he ordere a new one and it came black! so asking for "a yellow one" might mean you'll never get one. tack down the part number and see if it's been superceded with a later part. -
Some Pics from VW Mania 2004 (hope they are of interest)

Mk1 roccos look sweet as on polshed porker rims. hmm, I wonder if I can fit a 24v v6 into one..... -
Yep, VR6 clutch will fit on a g60 flywheeel, but he vr6 flywheel has 10 bolt hoes, g60 has 6? either way, I'd recommend the fidanza flywheel, it makes the car feel much lighter. 6lb, as opposed to the 18lb stock (or 30lb if it's an R32 one!! needless to say, I've put the 6lb one on the R32 lump (yes, it fits))

My mates got an old Civic VTEC. I said to him "I bet that's pretty flat under 4500rpm?" his reply was along the lines of "pretty flat under 6500rpm actually, I have to rev it to 9000rpm or it drops out of the power band when I change up a gear" WTF?!?!? how can you drive a car with power delivery like that...... I' rather have a car that actually IS fast, rather than one that just feels it....

I've gpt a brand new one somewhere. not sure which side or whether it's the right one. will have to check the part number. £60 plus postage if anyone wants it?i

Just got a new interior for it too, but you'll have to wait until it's in the car before I take any pics

I'll be doing mine over xmas too. I'll keep you all updated with pics.

What is the code on your gearbox? i'ts on the top of the casing, to the left of the shifter mechansism. UK cars are the same as golfs. US cars have a 3.6, canadian have a 3.94, not sure on french spec cars.

ball? the box has to be a 5 speed. it should look just like your corrado box. use the mk4 cables, you'll need them and they come with the shifter anyway.

swap your vr6 one with g60renshaws one. youll both be happy then.

i may be able to help there, do you do structural steel or reinorced concrete? as a recruitment consultant i tend to have a look at whats going on in all sectors of work. tbh on the production side of things for the automotive sector seems to be on a bit of a down turn at the moment. however as a production manager/quality manager there is some fantastic money to be earnt :) I've done structural steelwork before, but I'm essentially trained as a mechanical draughtsman. currently working in the rail industry, doing electrification structures and equipment.

Oh yes, they sound sepcial alright. I've heard a few with the milltek pipe on it. watching top gear last night, he was banging on about that Pagani Zonda, I thought it sounded utter ar5e! the Vr is miles better! Just struggling to draw up enough enthusiam to go outside and work on the car at the moment.

Me too, I'm absolutely busting to work in the automitive industry. I detest my job (draughtsman), I never wanted to be copped up in apoxy office all day long sat staring at a pc. anyone want to give me a job? (ps, I won't get out of bed for less than £500 a week)

you bean BBS RS301's? yeah I've got a set. but they are the worst condition set you have ever seen in your life. need a lot of work (if you're up to it?)

me neither, hence why it's still sat in the garage looked OK in my mk2, wth a corrado dash, then again, I had the TT seats in that too.

Had this idea for a while now, finally got rund to actually sorting it out today. Basically, the gearshift mechamsim on the 02A is horrendous, and universally slagged off (mainly bty fans of the 020 rod change box). This is down to 2 things. the pressed metal lever at the box end... stupid design. It's double thickness, but due to the way the bolt attaches to it, you're only usung the top half, and invariably, they crack, right where the hole is that the shifter weight sits in. Also, the lever itself is a terrible design, it's just so wrong I'm not evven going to start listing it's design flaws. Anyway, I noticed a while ago, that mk4 golfs, with the 5 spedd 02J gearbox have a different set up, ywt the o2J box is essentially identical tot he 02A. I was in the breakers today, spotted a Skoda octavia with this very box, so I whipped out the 2 bolts holding in the shifter tower and pulled it ouof the box (it's literlally that easy to remove). I also took the bracket that holds the cables too. for the shifter, they had a 3 month old mk5 golf in, so I got that one (practially brand new shifter for £40!), tower fits in the 02a perfectly. just the reverse light switch has a different connector (rob that off the mk4). Still working on the best way to make the mk4 shifter fit. It's rather large, and I got a bit carried away when cutting it down to try and get it to fit in the corrado housing. I've heard a mk5 polo ine is a lot smaller, so I'm going to try one of those next, and another mk4 one (same as mk5) to see which is best (I'd rather cut up the shifters than the car,,,,). Another bonus of this being, there's a pin in the tower, and 2 holes in the lever. put the pin in place, and drop a pin through these 2 holes, and it locks the shifters in neutral. then just pop the quick release cable connectors on to and bingo, it's perfectly calibrated! A well worthwhile mod, and the parts should cost you about £50 all in. I'll take some pics of the shifter modes whan I've wokred out how best to do it. in the meantime...go find those mk4's...

I've got the full centre console. can't decide wheter to fit it in the corrado or not. I've got the alloy dash braces too.

Mine is semi stright cut. still helical, just at a shallower angle. more strength, more noise. but it's a good noise, on par with a charger easily. it sound like a touring car, 5th howls. The mk5 shifter, looks abit like a mk4 one. a lot sturdier. trust me, the 02a design is utter w4nk, it's horrendous, thankfully the corrado one is the best of the bunch as it's a slightly shorter shift from the factory.
-
No, it's not a sequential shifter. It's what the VW Motorsport cars use on the 02A and 02J boxes (you can use it on an 02M too I believe) That CNC machined billet alloy shifter and the massively uprated cables give the notoriously crap shifter of the 02a a feel more akin to a rod change box. very direct and precise, plus there's no chance of you accidentally selecting reverse as you have to use 2 hands and manually pull the safety locking pin back to get reverse. I probably won't be using it in the corrado though, it's for the Golf. I've got a mk5 golf shifter for the corrado, just need the mk4 02J shifter tower to fit in my gearbox now. a "real" sequential box is about £10K from quaife...... Got an 02A B&M shifter for sale if anyones interested?
