  1. you want a 3.6 or 3.94 final drive. if you're still on 15" wheels go for a 3.6 if you're on 17"s then a 3.94 is ideal if you do a lot of motorway driving then you'll need to get a longer 5th if you go for the 3.94 on small wheels. who's going to fit it for 175? does he know how to shin the diff bearings and what preload to set them at? rebuild constss of replacing every single seal and bearing, along with anything else that's worn out, usually 2nd gear syncro ring.
  2. I can sympathsize with that..... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8768&highlight=shoppers
  3. if his car is a 1990 the wiring will plug straight in, just use the engine loom (3 bog white plugs and one small white plugs plug a few others) fuel pump wiring and relay and ecu realy required. as is a gti 8v fuel pump and lines. use the g60 gearbox, hubs, brakes, driveshafts and pedal box so you can use the hyd clutch. gear mechanism bolts straight up.
  4. DO NOT RUN IT AGAIN!!! get it taken to a specialist before it gets any worse, they may be able to repair it befor eit blows up for good.
  5. GET SOME 288'S AOFF ANY MK4 GTO OR LATE VR6 GOLF. buy new 312mm carriers and discs. I bet it won't cost you £400 then I got a 312mm setup off a seat leon for £60........
  6. I'm absolutely busting to show you my wheels. but I'll have to wait until they are on the car for maximum effect. watch this space
  7. Get the H&R ones with the studs in them then, no problems with thread stripping then, plus it's far easier to change wheels when you have studs to locate the wheel.
  8. did that in my mk2, put them in the mirrors. now I've got crystal side reapeaters I think they might be allowed to stay. I also have a freindly MOT man now though

you can't get an S reg corrado, so it's useless. My mates found a good plate on a 924 in the breakers, but I don't know how to go about transerring it off a written off car? I'm guessing I''d have to buy the car, but I still don't know if I could get the plate off it. it's a non age related one. what's that RAC link to check on the car plates thingy?
  10. hmmm, forecast is showers. looks like I'll avoid scotland after all, shame... york dragway is calling me, and I'm dying to find out what it'll run now it's running better. see if I can improve on that 14.9. I reckon a 14.5 easy.
  11. Hmm, mirrors, door handles. tempting. I'll see what's about. not keen on them mounted on the door actually, I'd prefer ones mounted on the black bit in the corner of the window.
  12. sod the time. if you have the money get it done. you won't regret it one bit, they are worth every single penny.
  13. f*ck it, I'll stay at hme if it's going to rain.
  14. I'l like to change the mirros, but I can't find anything I like. grille is staying satin balck. I hate overly colour coded cars, you need black to break up the colour, even on a dark car.
  15. Quaife is £525+vat, rebuild about £400. so budget for just over a grand, and that's if you take the box along yourself, which I presume you are doing. final drive is £200 from vag. bolt kit is £70. or if you're loaded quaife can do it for you, with or without their 6 speed.
  16. remove handbrake sleeve by releasing the clip underneath. slide the handbrake handle and lever right off. remove the screw under the handbrake pull out the ashtray, I think there's a screw under ther too, poiting forwards. lift out the centre arm rest and unbolt that too. you should be able to lift off the reear section now. to get the front scetion off loosen the 4 platic plugs, 2 either side of the tunnel and lift it up. then slide it forwards over the handbrake.
  17. mk2 syncro shell corrado vr6 1.0 lupo and that's it! soon to have a rallye shell too, but that's not mine.
  18. Yeah, certainly looks like pauls.
  19. She's gone! :( bought it for £90 last august. 1980 Derby (polo with a boot) 1.1S 35K on the clock, 2 owners, FSH!! ran it until now, probably cost me £100 in parts and MOT to keep the old girl going. It gave up last month though, can't get it running again, fecking carbs, so the old girl is being towed away as I type this. the new owners have been trying to get it started for the last 2 hours, and gave up and rang green flag. Canny little car that, did it's job well running the missus around. You can't argue with that for cheap motoring!= can you. I was hoping to sell it for a profit, but can't be ar5ed to fix it so had to let it go as a non runner. Need to fix up her Lupo now. It's a 51 plate 1.0 MPI, got that for £2050!! put a new wing and bumper on it, it's like new again, only 21K on the clock. must resist modifying it....
  20. weather forecast isn't looking too good..........
  21. ah sorry. remove the 6 #8 spline bolts. there, does that hellp?
  22. I don't think I'd swap my VR for any car that I could buy with what I'd get for it. Say it was worth £6K, what can you get for that that'll drive and look just as good and be as fast? nowt. and £10K still doesn't really broaden the scope. New carsa re horrible anyway, i don't think I'd have any new car under £35K, but I can't afford one...hence the 10 year old corrado.
  23. what do you keep the tissues there for anyway?
  24. hang on, you're tackling a chain job yourself but you don't even know how to take a driveshaft out!! :!:  have fun with the timing then.......
