  1. Glad that helped... good luck with the conversion :)
  2. Thanks Ka` sounds like you have a very similar set up to mine - I have a Kenwood head unit too. think the built in amp is very good and gives a good full range of sound... At £144 for the Basslink I think I'll be spending my cash on one of these 8) Will anyone with one of these be at No-Rice? Would really like to hear one...
  3. So there's a relay that controls the closure system... is it possible for a faulty relay to only open / close the window by about 75%? might help solve my problem too 8)
  4. Cool will look out for you *mental note - look for K reg VR - prob going faster than me! LOL* Also have a mate looking to buy in Aldersh1t so will mention you to him 8)
  5. Um, am I right in thinking that the Basslink has it's own amp and is enough to suppliment 6x9's running off the head unit? I have some infinity 6x9's running from the head unit and these are loud enough IMO but I could do with more bass as it looses quite a bit once on the motorway... If this is the case, how much are they? I have a 4 channel alpine V12 amp that need's repairing (approx £150) and an infinity 12" sub that could go in but I'm not too keen on losing all my boot space so would go for one of these if it's about the same price as getting the V12 fixed...
  6. I had the exact same problem as Blair, with my C and the filter housing looked damaged too... so after having all the oil dumped on me five times, several filters, and oil cooler we eventualy decided to give the pump a go - problem solved but a messy experience... just thought I'd mention this incase you find that after you do the housing it dumps its oil again
  7. Have you checked the multi pin plug on the back of the instrument pod? I had to change a bulb yesturday and didn't get the plug back in properly which caused the same problems... does it diplay the time or is it blank?
  8. so what brings you to our neck o' the woods? Will look out for you as am over that way fairly often, what colour is the VR? PM us when you're here, should come and have a beer with me and HiAsAKite...

    Windows key fob

:?: sounds like it might be a different problem to mine, my window basicly only goes up about 3/4 on auto and you have to go the rest of the way manualy... also does this with the turn key in lock closure and closure on alarm. It doesn't open when I unlock though. Thought it could have been that the alarm needed resetting but not that... wonder if it may need a new module or like you said it may be possible to reset it. Although different problems I would have thought it would be the same module causing this problem... let me know if you get anything sorted and I'll keep you posted if I can sort mine...
  10. I'd have thought it'd be a straight swap... did this on my MK1 Golf - changed them to MK2 items and everything worked fine. If you find that they don't work I'm sure you could butcher the new stalks and fit them on the old mountings...
  11. So that'll be a white knuckle ride pretty much every day then  I've only really used Barnet and Small V dub in Farnham for parts, but just after I got the C I left it with them for a morning to see if they could diagnose a fault (the first of MANY) They plugged in diagnostics and couldn't find a fault which didn't help too much but were decent enough not to charge me for their time... parts dept gave me a free V dub keyring too (OK I'd just forked out £80+ for a set of BBS center caps  ) I'll stay a regular customer...
  12. There have been threads on this in the past.. might be worth a quick search as I'm sure you'll find something. IIRC it involves pressing and holding the button on the end of the stalk and then turning engine on, couldn't tell you anything more though as the later mfa's didn't have this feature... HTH a bit :)
  13. Might be worth getting the oil pressure checked... at least that way you know for sure, although your oil light and buzzer should come on if it's not right... only other thought is try taking the revs over 2K whilst driving  BTW what engine is it?
  14. Afraid I cant help but welcome to the forum :)

Sorry to have hyjacked the thread with all my damn stupid quetions but.... I've got some more.... If VAG com doesn't read my engine and only the ABS does it have to go through a 1551/2? And if I were to buy one (haven't looked at price and will prob be put off if I do) can you get a full list to say what all the codes mean? Sorry
  16. Where as Corrado = lots of bangs = no damn light = sore hand
  17. Did that until my hand hurt  deffo the bulb
  18. I assume that as you can get debadged grills its easy to do with a grill (just read that back  ) um, so 16vStyle, if you don't mind me exploiting your kind offer to Darren would you be up for helping me put my dub badge off center on the grill? Have seen it done on Golfs but not on a C and thought it'd be worth a go!
  19. Have been thinking of doing this myself - good job 8)

Cheers Gavin, Whats a 1551? Was at the Parrot Inn meet at the begining of the month and we managed to get a bodged lead in and ran VAGcom and it could only show the ABS stuff, spose my best bet is to give it to VW and pay their prices for a good once over...

Would this be the same procedure for the 2.0L it being a 9A?
  22. Sweeet, thanks chaps.. it's sooo anoying not having everything lit up as it should be! will be doing this on Saturday - after getting the exhaust replaced (under warranty) the monkey at ATS didn't weld it properly, it lasted for 50 miles LOL!
