My C and my old MK1 both have had this problem - ARSE!
-
No really clever ideas but you could start by drilling the airbox? instructions on vwvortex EEEK - there's 2 Phil's with 2L 16valvers... CRAZY!
-

Got one for Christmas - Haven't used it yet but will get the C back in the week so will give it a buff at the weekend... was planning to use auto glm - is there anything better out there?

Just found it so have Pm'd you the details...

Do a search.. I just had a look but couldn't find one quickly but it is definately covered in one of the threads.. um and I think the VWVortex site has info on this... Hope that helps a bit Welcome to the forum BTW

2 years no claims, fully comp for 5K miles a year (although they've never asked for the miles - so my hands are tied  ) plus a slightly colourful driving history £1065 EEEK!

Hello and Velcome I'd lower it.. even if you leave it on standard rims it'll look beter lowered. At the end of the day you all have to admit owning a jacked up 4x4 looking sports car aint that cool! Standard is fine but sitting low can only compliment perfection

What's Verien 7?

Haven't suffered this problem myself but have spent time waiting with HiAsAKite (from this forum) for the AA twice when this happened on his VR.. In his case the throtle cable had been over tightened by a previous owner and didn't provide sufficient travel for the pedal to hit the floor.. knock on effect was that over time the hook had bent and wouldn't stay on the pedal.. the nice man from the AA just relocated it the first time and recomended a new cable to be fitted but thought it would hold temporarily - it did kind of but failed again later that day so we saw the AA man again.. this time he pulled it through the bulk head and carefully re-bent it back into shape (worth being very careful as if it snaps you're fu**ed) As far as I know this solved the problem and the cable does what it should now with out the cost of a new part.. 8)

That'd look sweet, I'd be Very interested in one of those mate, let us know if and when you plan to do it.

I'd agree EVO is a good read... and covers a much wider range of interests

Just wondering if there's life beyond the likes of PVW and The Golf... So, what do you read and how do you rate them? I rate The Golf as a better read than PVW but will always buy PVW as they have more C related features
-
Alex I'm with you on that my friend... Having had working relationships with both I would say that the PVW are only out to sell a mag and aren't enthusiasts like you find with The Golf. When I first started out as a photographer The Golf were only too pleased to offer me work experience and tried their best to help me any way possible, PVW did the same but later on when I did some work for Performance Ford (same group) they took the p*** It's just a shame that The Golf don't cover more C's although I guess it'd cause problems with the name of the mag... Hello I could be completely wrong as I'm not mechanicaly minded but my C has just failed on emissions as well and this was caused by a faulty air flow meter. Solution buy a new one - only £400 from V dub!!! Got one from a scrapped Passat for £50 and this should solve the problem eventualy... just having trouble with the monkey at the yard not sending all the right bits  But like I said this may be a different problem all together - hope you get it sorted quickly, my C has been off the road for over 10 weeks now and I've pretty much forgotten what it's like to drive :(
-
Nice one guys - yep, think I'm gonna do the tape thing!
-
Looks like the owner is about a lucky as I am with my car!!! Hope you've had a good festive period Al, the C's still at J+B's A*SE... catch up with ya soon Phil

Does any one know if these are suposed have retaining clips to keep them in the door pocket? Mine just seems to slide in without anything to keep it in place and due to the loom it will not stay in perfectly... Did any other dubs use this same switch as I can prob get another one at the scrapy...?
-
They should light up - defo take them apart to have a look as being one bulb it's prob just blown... mind you when they do work they're more of a token gesture than fully lit controls.
-
Yup... tis the bird in the ICE dept! I guess you just have to expect the fit(ish) ones to be taken! She took my number as well but only for an order... probably best she doesn't hear about the forum - I have to go in there again and she knows I've got a corrado  I'd also like to point out that she is fit in comparison to anyone else working in there but by no-means is she dream girlfriend material. P.S. Female forum users - sorry heater controls has digressed into Halfords bird watch
