  1. Just to drag this thead back up again... I went into see BMW today and am seriously tempted by a white 120d coupe with the larger 18'' rims and sun protection glass (i.e. tinted). This will mean the LCR is going and I'll be going from 225hp down to 177hp but with rwd! Now seems to be the best time to part with the LCR though as it's just had everything put right under warranty (only small niggly things) and I've just spent a fortune on upgraded discs, pads and fluid! Will I be dissapointed and miss the benefits of the Leon or is the right move? The pro's are better economy, newer car, fashionable colour choice and a few more toys than I have at the moment where as the cons are that I'll be leaving the VAG stable and I wont have a top of the range motor that makes me grin from ear to ear anymore... It's a funny decision to have to make as I love the 1 series coupe and think it will look sweet in white but maybe I should stick to my guns and hold out for the the diesel rocco or passat CC!?! I have a coupe for the day next tuesday and have booked a CC for thursday so I guess I'll have a better idea this time next week... What would you do?
  2. That looks very cool with the cream recaro's - a perfect combo IMO! Did you do the rears as well or is that on the to do list? Are they electric? Any plans to change to a black dash?
  3. I'd go for the S3 but tbh I don't think the two cars you're talking about are comparable in the slightest... I think the Ibiza generaly atracts a younger driver who is more prone to ram raiding halfords and posting on forums using txt tlk... compare the S3 to it's equivilent and you're looking at the Leon Cupra R! IMO the LCR is a good all rounder and more exciting than the S3. OK I'm slightly biased and yes they aren't all that good if it's slightly damp but on a dry day there's more than enough fun to be had and you can upset most of the more expensive brands off the lights :D
  4. Blimey! I was also in a road accident in the last couple of weeks which made a right mess of the vehicle I was in and probably lost me another of my 9 lives - scary stuff! Glad your sister was OK!
  5. Good thread! Those rear lights look the business too - how did you make the clear sections look less bling? I'm planning a refurb of my brembo's in the new year too but will retain the stickers - have you any tips on stripping them with out damaging the piston seals etc? My car is a daily too so I will need to have it done over a weekend... I want to do a proper job though as the laquer has started to peal on both sides now (common fault with LCR brembo's) and I really want them to last once re-done - have also been thinking about a colour change i.e. silver with black logo's. IMHO yours would look better with white logo's - that way they won't stand out and will still look classy... EDIT: you're welcome to give me a hand re-furbing mine and then you can take as many bracket measurements as you like!?! ;)
  6. This is how my old one looked lowered 60mm front and rear... HTH
  7. Bugger! Sorry to hear it too... I also did this with my pride and joy mk1 golf only it went head first into a lamp post! Not a nice feeling when it happens thats for sure :?
  8. AFAIK it's only the lens thats different between LHD and RHD...
  9. do the insides of the slots a bright funky colour and do the faces matt black IMO 8)
  10. How about a nice set of these
  11. As much as I'm not a fan of the skirts they do work well as part of the bigger picture! I do think it would benefit from a late grill though ;)
  12. I'm sure the radio will be compromised as the C really relies on having the amplified whip tbh... however, if you're still not convinced and really want a shark fin buy a BMW ;) :)
  13. Small update on the LCR! Brakes are amazing now I've fitted EBC grooved discs and Ferrodo DS2500 pads along with Motul RBF600 fluid 8) It's also had a few small bits and pieces done at Seat under warranty including the rear sub frame and caliper mods (developed by Seat due to creaking rear suspension and binding rear calipers). So all in all it's 100% sorted now and shouldn't need anything doing for a good few years! Not sure what do do next though but it's a toss up between a re-map and some engine mods or selling up and getting back in a company car for a few years to save money... it's a case of should I listen to my head or my heart  Gave it a good clean and removed the rear L E O N badge from under the boot handle the other evening and took a few pics (although they are pretty poor camera phone pictures). I'm really pleased with the way the back looks now with out the badge and the fabia rear wiper - much cleaner! I also replaced the scuffed splitter on the front so other than a wheel re-furb it's all spot on. Hoping to find some time tomorrow to give it a damn good waxing ready for the winter...
  14. Had a good poke around one last night at no-rice and have to say they look really nice in the flesh! Would love to drive one too - you lucky bugger Jim! Hoping to part company with the LCR in the new year and wil be looking for a suitable diesel replacement - think it's going to be between the Sciroco and the Passat CC 8)
  15. Failing that then get your self down to your local scrappy and dig around in most of the old Seats and you should find the right part for pennies!
  16. Does look a little high doesn't it! Good condition though and it is nice to see an unmodified example for a change! What are your plans for it? EDIT: Are those the bosch replacement lenses on the fogs? if so then one of the previous owners must be on here at a guess...
  17. Loving that orange one! When you see pics like that it shows that VW do know how to make a good looking car with all the right proportions - so with this in mind, why the hell do they have to water them down so much before they sell them to the public? :cuckoo:
  18. Should go straight in mate... only difference I can think of is the drivers side electric window button will need some modding for the off side and the existing hole will be slightly too big for the near side - other than that there shouldn't be too many issues plus your drivers seat will have less wear than your passenger seat! Welcome to the forum btw :D HTH
  19. Any money you manage to save on insurance now will only be spent on higher road tax though
  20. First time I've seen those rims work so well on a dub! Look like they were made for the C IMO - Keep 'em! 8)
  21. If you only want it for the interior I'd offer next to nothing tbh... if none of the panels are worth selling on and the engine has been sat for so long then I'm guessing there's no value left in it at all anyway! If it's got reasonably tidy leather then I'd suggest £300-£400 and it it's cloth then no more than £150 seeing as you can pick up an early cloth interior (minus the car to get rid of afterwards) for as little as a ton! HTH
  22. Hate to think what road tax and fuel prices will be like in a few years time though!

    how nice?

Seriously tempted to chop the LCR for a CC in the new year 8) Love the special edition pictured above - shame the UK version isn't quite that phat! Think the ground effects kit makes all the difference... and yes deffo one of the nicest shape cars to come from VW since the C 8) Have spent the last month getting the LCR back to full glory and while I'm loving it even more than ever I can't help feeling a change is due...
