Hi Please see my above post in regards to price, these are cheaper than i paid for Golf ones over 10 years ago, also there are tooling costs and large minimum order quantities involved. They also come from Germany and not China. To anyone upset regarding price - once you get into this kind of work or anyone that comes from a manufacturing background will understand the costs involved in manufacturing. The tooling, the deposit to get it off the ground, the huge minimum order quantities, delivery costs etc etc Postage is free from us so Rocket Ron please dont presume there is some huge postage charge as there isnt one at all. We ship orders over £35 for free. What i really dont understand is the people with these Corrados, or like me, the mk2 golf that cannot understand that they are old and parts are not available. You either have to take what you can find or pay a bit of a premium for new manufactured parts. The aircooled guys learnt this ages ago and just get on with it but watercooled customers are always the ones that moan. Sorry but remember, our cars are getting as old and obsolete as aircooled models now.

Hi Anyone wanting to pre order then feel free to drop me an e mail [email protected]

Less that i paid for my mk2 ones from VW when they were available in 2007. So on that note i have to say its not as expensive as i thought they would be. You got to take into account that they have had to pay for tooling etc to get it set up and running and have probably had to order a very large minimum order quantity to make it financially viable for them.

Now confirmed that these are in stock at classic parts. We are ordering them next week so will be about 3 weeks to arrive. Priced at £124.95 per side, these are now available to pre order.

Hi Just to add, out of all the sets sold so far we have had no issues reported or returns. I am (have fitted 1 side) fitting a set myself but my car is not ABS as its on a mk2 with a Corrado G60 brake set up. Will keep an eye on this to see the outcome, i hope you get sorted

You are welcome. The good news is that we have a new chap starting soon thats an engineer and he will be also helping with manufacturing parts, but using his engineering knowledge to either improve them, or make something that didnt exist before where we cannot just copy it. Should be a step in the right direction for us

Now awaiting the first set of samples to arrive with me :-) will post pics once they arrive

Thanks, yeah i am hoping the black will look fully awesome when all back together. as for changing all the running gear, i dont want to go to an MOT first in like 5 years and them be like oh its failed on a ball joint, then think oh bugger why didnt i change it whilst it was apart!

Current images wrapped my loom up all neat rebuild begins Stripped the rear wheel last night and got that in the air. Started to take apart and clean up the rear axle and surrounding parts. Its mega crusty but solid. Anyway decided it would be easier to rebuild another axle off the car and just swap the 2 over when its done. so a smallish job turned into a massive one. I feel like if im going to do it i may as well do it properly. So work today, on order we have everything, polybushes, stub axles, mk4 calipers and new rear discs, the complete works.

So i know its not a corrado but as i post on here alot and the engines the same i thought i should post it up Dont want you guys thinking i just sort out parts but have no clue about the car itself :-) The stories goes : The car came into my possesion in 2005. I had a Mk2 1.3 at the time but wanted a VR6 conversion. I knew a 1.3 would be harder to put a conversion into and i wasnt using it so set about looking for another mk2 to work with. This one came up about 30 miles from home. It was originally black but had been painted in a BMW blue colour similar to the Audi bright blue that RS4s come in. It had a fully rebuild 2.0 GTI lump from a mk3 fitted which ran like a dream so the deal was done and it became mine. I didnt run the car like this for too long, it went to my friend Patrick (sparksvr6) for a VR6 conversion. In this time it ended up having the bay smoothed and was away for 10 months. That went so slowly that time. I couldnt wait to drive it and driving a 1.4 TDI daily with no toy was killing me. Once the car came back it was driven for around 6 months before deciding that i was going to go all out, strip the car and get it painted. We had had trouble matching the blue colour so it seemed a good thing to do. I went for black, its a suzuki GXSR black so has a slight flake in the sun when polished. Just wanted to be a bit different at the time. So it was engine back out, complete strip and off for paint. Once back from paint in black and looking all lovely it was rebuilt with alot of help and first made its debut at GTI International 2007 at Bruntingthorpe. The car stayed like this for about 1.5-2 years before the engine was back out again. This time for a full rebuild, pistons, shells, everything. The engine issues discovered once taken apart were pretty nasty, the pistons would rock in the bores. So 2.9 it was bored out too and everything replaced. All the inlet manifold, alternator fuel rail etc was chromed before it was put back in. It then stayed like this for a number of years before i took it off the road in 2012. The chrome in the bay had started to pit, it looked terrible and didnt want people to see it looking pants as i was unhappy with it. And there it has sat since. in the garage, but at least not rotting away outside. So not finally i got the motivation to rebuild it. I had started to take a few small things apart over the 4-5 years its sat but it always seemed a huge task so i just put it off with other adulting duties taking over. Then my stepson started his driving lessons, his mate will now come over and they are out there learning about cars, taking them apart, detailing etc and its really cute. I thought damn they need to see a real car (they have a fiesta and a corsa) and it motivated me massively to get mine on the road as neither of them have seen it drive. So i got the engine stripped in a day to get the chrome stripped and re powdercoated and it didnt take that long. I then sent it off to Mike the polisher and within 2 weeks had everything back in black looking lovely. So now am in the rebuild stage with the usual things holding me up, items getting lost, things not come back from the polisher, generally trying to replace what i can on the car. As it stands i am waiting on the splash panel from the rocker cover to come back so i can finish the build, my inlet manifold ports didnt survive stripping so have had to get another manifold coated as they are essential. New coilovers and tyres arrived last week so i can get those on and my new adaptors are ordered. Slowly getting there. I am aiming for September now for getting it out, maybe to a show or 2 but when you are waiting on other people its tricky. The paint wont be done this year as it needs some touch ups in places and a new tailgate. The rest of the car though is sold where it was freshly undersealed when it was painted luckily so no welding etc to be done. The interior i am torn on, i cannot decide whether to put a rear bench back in, currently i dont have one and have a 90s old school les hicks roll cage which i do love. I am sure some people will recognise the car from years ago possibly. So it did look like

You can find the info here too http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?95260-VR6-Disc-Backing-Plates with pics

They are not on the site yet, waiting the photo to be uploaded, Part number to order is 3A0-615-311/312 so you should be able to compare that to the part number you ordered

From VW Heritage, we do the correct ones here at work. There is another set that fit 280mm but G60 only not VR6. Maybe these are what you have?
-
Thank you everyone. Will give all these ideas a go. I kind of feel like ive changed or restored everything else under there so i feel ive done half a job if i leave these in place. Especially as they are now an available part.

A welder is one thing i dont have unfortunately.

Hey all Currently rebuilding my mk2 VR6. I bought some of my lovely brand new disc brake backing plates we produced at work to replace the rusty as hell ones on the car. Just working through replacing what i can. Slight issue, the M6 bolts that hold the plates onto the carrier are rounded to fork and are not coming out. They just spin where the head has rounded. So any ideas to get them out as i would like to replace them. Have tried heat, no luck. Can i drill them out and tap a new thread for say M8 in the carrier? One has space for a nut on the back so this one i am not too worried about drilling out but the other doesnt and just screws into the carrier.

easypops to the rescue. I cant thank this kind man enough!
-
So thank you to easypops for sending me a fan. So it turns out that when i tried to re fit last night, the other fan is also wrong and from a passat meaning the hub is the wrong size so the belt does not fit. Damn cars with engine conversions. So does anyone have the other fan without the motor attached that runs off the belt?

I did a complete engine rebuild on my VR6 about 8 years ago. The engine had apprently dont 85k odd (its in a mk2) but wasnt running great and i had smoke going up the quarter mile which i thought was valve stem seals When it was taken apart. OMG it was terrible, it looked like no one had ever put any anti freeze in as it was rusty as hell, the cams were hugely out in the head, and well the pistons, you could rock them in the bores and there was horrible piston slack. So it was honed out to a 2.9 and 2.9 pistons put in, new shells etc etc, head rebuild. Basically everything rebuild. It cost me at full retail from VW £1600 on parts. The pistons were £600 alone. I was lucky that with the help of a friend i did it myself so there was no labour costs. i personally have had the car 12 years so for me i have no plans to ever sell so worth every penny IMO.

Been trying to make the point that people are queing up for sets if they are done right. Mk3 Golf is on hold too

Still on this. struggling with permission from the boss. He thinks we wont sell enough after originally agreeing we would do them.
