  1. After viewing your video it does appear to be hitting the heat shield directly above rear silencer, erm how close is the centre section to rear axle beam, as ideally you want a 1/2" gap there between exhaust & beam. Are all the brackets/hangers on exhaust angled correctly, as if not it can cause parts of the exhaust system to sit close. To be honest I had that on my Corrado after taking exhaust system down to repair a few things, once I had the system refitted it was hitting on start up plus when driving sometimes. So I adjusted this, moved that, but in the end I had to loosen the U-clamp from centre to rear silencer, and rotate centre section a bit to get/gain enough clearance. The other thing to do is to remove the rear silencer rubber mount, just to see how far the rear silencer drops if at all, if it doesn't then possibly the centre section needs adjustment via hangers or may need rotating like mine did. On the other hand if it does drop slightly then this could mean the rear silencer hanger is too short or the rubber mount is pulling rear box up too high ? Also as RADO87 has said make sure your rear heat shield isn't out of shape or too low. Hope this helps Si
  2. Hello there, new exhaust systems for the Corrado depending on make/brand vary from £350 to £500. The 4 year old exhaust system you've seen, if it's in good condition like you say, I reckon £100 to £150 max. Hope this helps Si
  3. Wow who got out the wrong side of the bed that morning then. Wasn't Richard Hammond was it  As he likes crashing cars  Or just imagine the guy collecting this car all brand-new from the dealer, and being told "by the way Sir I wouldn't turn off your traction control as it's a bit damp out there", "yeah yeah it's ok I'll be fine". Few miles down the road BANG :shocked!:
  4. I've only just noticed this thread, apologies been really busy at work over the last 18 months or so. I'd just like to say thanks Andy for starting up this great forum and keeping it going all these years :salute: I've only been a member since early 2013, but I remember looking on this forum in my lunch hour at work getting tips back in 2007, and thinking back then so that's how they do that, and that part you can purchase from there & so on. Also thanks to all you guys & girls on here for all your great support and input, it's great the Corrado team is still strong :thumbleft: Roll on another 15 strong years :thumb right: Many thanks Si
  5. Hello there, under the previous system, the registration plate usually contains a group of two or three letters at the end. (if three, ignore the first, and use the second & third); very old ones use only one letter; these indicate the place of first registration. This was from A reg = 1983 to Y reg = 2001 when you had the 2 or 3 letters like I say at the end of registration plate. So if yours is XFP, you only use FP = Leicester. So possibly your car was first registered at a main dealer in Leicester, as DOX has already mentioned. You could always contact DVLA directly, and ask if they've still got on file which VW Dealership they sent the new reg details to, like what VR6ANDY has just posted up / mentioned. Could be worth a try ?? Si
  6. Lovely looking car that silver Corrado, must have spend hours and a lot of money's, amazing car.
  7. Hello there, yes that is a good write-up on the Corrado, some really good info there. Many thanks Si

  10. That I believe is the spring loaded popper, that basically keeps the tailgate open a jar, once it's been opened by the lock button so to speak. The popper does indeed fit into the hole in the bottom of tailgate on the left side just off centre. I think the main body of the popper fits through the hole, from outside the tailgate with just the small plastic plunger part sticking through, the washer bit is possibly already attached, or at least it should be. Looks like your washer bit was semi bonded to the outside of the bottom of tailgate, where it should be attached to the main body of plunger, I think these plungers should screw in, think there's threads at the base of main plunger body just behind where the plastic washer should be, well that's how my new replacement plunger looks with threads at base. Hope this helps Si
  11. No I haven't got Oct 2017 issue, is there anything good in it ? I think I've only got the August 2017 issue at the moment. I used to have a massive pile of these Performance VW mags going back to the late 1990s, sadly they've all gone now been chucked into the recycling bin. There were some really nice Corrados & Golfs in them over the years. I remember reading about a MK3 Golf VR6 with Porsche wheels, looked really good. Also a MK2 Scirocco that the owner had removed the front bumper, headlights and fabricated the front wings slightly, as replaced them with Corrado front headlights & bumper, it did look alright in a strange way, but the wings were so wide  Plus there was a bronze/silver Corrado 2.0 20v, that was decked with 16" split rims, everything in the engine bay was pretty much chromed / polished, retrimed leather interior, also had the sunroof I think smoothed over, and the same with the front bumber. 12. Nice one cheers guys, in that case I'll have to grab one. Many thanks Si
  13. Has anyone found and 100% tried any other clip that fits/works, for the bonnet cable where it attaches inside car. Cheers Si
  14. "After explaining that he had pulled me for overtaking he said 'your only saving grace was you continued at the correct speed' at which point I thought I'd got away with it." "He then um'd and er'd and said he wasnt sure what to do about it, then said if the car I passed and which he also passed made a complaint and he had not done anything it would not look good so he gave me a ticket for 'driving without reasonable consideration." ******************* Codes CD10 to CD30 must stay on a driving record for 4 years from the date of the offence. Code Offence Penalty points CD10 Driving without due care and attention 3 to 9 CD20 Driving without reasonable consideration for other road users 3 to 9 CD30 Driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users 3 to 9 From what you've said you over took that slower car in a save manner, but possibly you went over 30mph, which in the cops eyes is driving with out care as you over took in a 30 limit ? Hopefully he's just given you a warning and nothing else. My advice and mentioned by 1 or 2 other guys is to get a dash cam, possibly one with front & rear camera's, I've got one myself the front camera is 8 maga pixal, and rear one is a bit pants at night as it's only 1.2 mega pixal. The front camera is really clear and has good sound from the mic. Also get one that has built in GPS that shows speed. Aleast this way you'll have your own evidence from front and behind, plus what was said as they record all sound. Hopefully you'll be alright. Si
  15. As far as I'm aware the 2.0 16v only has the one main fuel filter, which is similar to that on the 1.8 16v, which is placed next to or behind the high pressure fuel pump housing under car. The filter under car is the one you change every 8000 to 12000 miles i.e on service. The only other filters are the ones attached to the fuel lift pump in the tank and the high pressure fuel pump, but these normally last the live of the pumps. Hope this helps Si
  16. Anna have you any photo's to post up of the sample Corrado headlight covers, or will it hopefully be done by who ever test fits them ?? Looking forward to purchasing a set, as the headlights are not cheap. Cheers Si
  17. Hi Chris, possibly looks like there's not really much interest in these rear 16v badges, well it's been 4 days now with no other interest. Chris you've got 100% two people interested for these rear 16v badges, in the list above in previous post. What would be the amended price for a smaller quantity ?? Or would you do a deal if one rear script badge was purchaseed along with rear 16v badge/s Many thanks Si

    Corrado

Hello there welcome back so your getting the Corrado rush again, these cars certainly do bite back sometimes with some of their faults. But we always pour love & money into them keeping them alive, even though our wallets are empty then, lol The VR6 has fantastic power and amazing 3rd gear and of cause that engine sound, it's like music to your ears. Ive got a 2.0 16v myself which has got a fairly good 3rd gear as well. They certainly handle really well these Corrados. Years ago when I was first looking for one I test drove a G60 absolutely lived it, the only reason why I chose the 16 valver was because I felt they would be slightly cheaper on insurance and maintenance issues/costs. There's not loads of cars out there that put a big smile on your face. Hope you find one soon. Si
  19. Ok Chris nice one. Many thanks Si
  20. Hi Chris, any update on the fog light lenses. Many thanks Si
  21. It's amazing really what spare parts we all hide away, and don't use them until months or years later  Si

    High revs

Sounds like your cold start programme is possibly over compensating, like too much fuel or fast idle is lingering on too long. Coolant temp switch, as mentioned already. Throttle body clogged up. Idle control valve sticking. Air flow meter. With the engine turned off check that you have good full throttle movement, by operating the throttle linkage by hand from closed position to full open position, you should also here a slight clicking sound from the throttle position switch. The throttle movement should be fairly smooth & even. Have you got a diagnostic scanner, or is there someone off this Forum close to where you are who has one ? Or take it to your local garage. Hope this helps. Si
  23. I've just ordered a few bits for my Corrado, some clips and bolts, anyway I came across this item as listed in thread title. Corrado reinforcing plates = simply weld in the two strengthening plates to help stop the clutch arm bending/cracking under constant use. I've seen you can buy the uprated reinforced clutch arm from Germany for about £65.00 but wasn't sure if any of you guys/girls had bought the reinforcing plates and fitted/welded them. I don't need this as my clutch arm is ok as had a new clutch fitted so is much smoother, where as before the clutch operation was quite heavy which must be why these arms fail I guess. What do you guys think. Cheers Si
