    I had this problem with mine, turned out to be the electrical connector inside the door panel that was corroded, I remade the connection and all was well after that.
    There is only the one connector...

    As for your bucket of oil test... unless its specifically stated by the manufacturer.. 80 degrees means its fully open at 80 degrees, so some oil will flow when cold.
