dr_mat 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Are you using your psychic powers or simply stating your wishes?!
Yandards 0 Posted May 29, 2005 From the BBC website.. Top Gear Sun 29 May, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm 60mins On this week's show Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May find out if you can buy a stylish two door coupe for less than £1,500; a brand new supercar from Maserati - the MC12; Jack Dee is the 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' and a chance for viewers to have their say on the greatest driving song of all time. So kinda psychic powers... as in reading the TV listings.
Jim 2 Posted May 29, 2005 The Corrado has to come up in that price range.. surely!
VR6 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Less than £1,500? It's gonna be a nail though.
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted May 29, 2005 This is Top Gear though. £5 for a Volvo anyone?
Tempest 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Yeah, who says it's even going to be a Karmann-VW built coupe? Jeremy Clarkson has never been too keen on the Mk2 Rocco, has a more favourable opinion on the Mk1 (but prices for those are on the rise), so that would leave the Rado as for our wishes, but £1500 is not enough for a good one. joebloggsVR69 0 Posted May 29, 2005 For that money, I bet it'll be a Jap car
DaveStorm 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Why not? You can pick up an early 16v for
billinjah 0 Posted May 29, 2005 a 635 a starion and an xjs i predict (dont look at the time of this post!!)
Jim 2 Posted May 29, 2005 Hm.. that Starion was a rather cool machine! :)
Guest Posted May 29, 2005 The earlier 2.0 litre Starion was a better car, more powerful and smoother than the 2.6 litre four pot that was found on all wide arch cars - very cool in a very 80's way
Rustynuts 0 Posted May 29, 2005 £1500 would have bought a reasonable 16v to do the job they wanted. at the end of th day they buy nails and a G reg 16v would have beaten all those motors. Would have been good for 130mph and would have been reliable enough to beat the Jag and BM. Having said that would front wheel drive been any good for the final race?
billinjah 0 Posted May 29, 2005 could of got a rough g60 for 1500 put a silly small pulley on it only got to last the show would have won the speed test easily
jenks 0 Posted May 29, 2005 just as bloody well a corrado wasnt bought! Banger racing at end!! Mr Clarkson had a total different car for that race, Fell respray to white+Turbo for 500 quid? Hmmm!
DaveStorm 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Bit unfair having a '91 Mitsubishi against an '83 BM and Jag, but still good entertaining stuff though, they always have a right laugh blowing up old bangers :) edit - take a look at the trader, how the feck did Clarkson get hold of the last UK registered car for a grand?? coolrado 0 Posted May 30, 2005 anyone got that link for downloading top gear i cant find it anywhere and i missed it last night
Jim 2 Posted May 30, 2005 http://www.finalgear.com They already have it.. but you need to join the IRC channel to get the links to the shows as they are already having legal issues :|
Tempest 0 Posted May 30, 2005 I have a mate who would have cried seeing a BMW 635 coupe being treated like that, as he's a big fan of those. So, yeah, lucky us, that Top Gear didn't chose a Rado for the 4-hour marathon thingy. Tempest
Rustynuts 0 Posted May 30, 2005 The Rado would have been fine for that, no problem, they would have been able to drive it home.
Baz2004 0 Posted May 30, 2005 yeah was really expecting to see an early valver on there, id say they will do another short piece on retro coupes at some stage plenty to choose from in the early 90s - with a slightly bigger budget perhaps 3k you might see a G60 up against a Calibra and an Fto now that would be entertainment.
