door cards? early into late

will the late(with e/w switch on pod) door card fit straight in to an early(with switch on door card) model 'c'?

The card itself will fit, but the wiring for the electric mirrors and windows needs to be redone if you want to use the later style switches as all the connections are different. A few people have done the conversion and there are a few threads on it, including something in the knowledge base.

Rolex, I did this recently. In addition to what JMC says you will also need the late handles and door pulls to fit the cards. Do a search and you'll find all of the wiring information for the mirrors and windows.

I fitted late cards to my early rado.. got hold of the late wiring for the electric window & mirror connectors at they are different..

Agreed. You can modify the early e/w window connector, the passenger side plug will fit the later switch but you need to swap two of the wires. The drivers side needs an extra connection in addition to the 5 on the plug but again you need to change some of the wires around. The mirror connector is completely different though and if I had to do it again, I would get hold of the late loom, it makes the job a lot easier.

Yeah, when I did mine, the electric windows was a relatively easy job to do (when I realised that the wiring diagram I had was from a lhd car). The mirror switch was a bit more nasty, and in the end I had to reverse the wires on each motor to get them to move in the correct direction.

Or do what I did, reverse the connections on the black three pin plug in the door, it's easier.

You know, I just couldn't figure out from the wiring diagram how to do that and get it to work. Glad to hear there is a way though....

If it helps, I started a thread a while ago asking for a vr6 wiring diagram. I documented all the wiring I did for the door mirrors somewhere near the end of the thread so may be worth a look. Good luck!
