livi1982 0 Posted June 17, 2007 Got into my valver last night and turned the ignition and to my amusement and shock the steering wheel started smoking from where the wheel joins the column. After quickly turning the engine off again it stopped and seems fine. Anyone ever witnessed such an event? Bit worrying, smelled like an electrical fire, burning wires.

tonedef 9 Posted June 20, 2007 Had a similar thing years ago with an Astra GTE, turned out the 110/95W headlight bulbs were drawing more current than the dip switch could handle and it was getting hot and smoking.
Jim 2 Posted June 20, 2007 Its weird. I used to periodically get this on my G60 but never found the cause, and never had any side effects from it as a result. I'm sure it was identified and discussed on here some time ago as its definately not the first time i've heard of this :)
Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted June 20, 2007 One more here for that. Kacked myself, but nothing seemed to be damaged.
