KARMANN 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Has anyone had to replace the Starter Ring Gear on there raddo? As mine is Knacked-now 95% of the time i have to put the car in 5th and rock it to get it started. I got a quote for supply and fit for £360 as the ring gear has to be bought with a new flywheel. think its around £170 from vw. remember its a 1.8 valver. Also got a quote for supply and fit a new rear engine mount for just under £100-what do you guys think,as iv heard its a really tricky on to replace. CharlieHorse 0 Posted March 10, 2004 i'd imagine most of the cost would be labour charges as getting to the flywheel could be quite tricky. Not sure wether you need a whole new flywheel or not, but you might want to consider getting a lightened one while your at it. that is, if tuning is your thing.
