Hi Keyo, My remark was actually directed at ABV-VR6, as at 07:12 yesterday as part of his input he said "So far, I have removed all four lenses. Cleaned really well."... Also, I am not sure a glass specialist would be able / willing to try to cut such a small sliver off a moulded lens shape, and doubt they would be willing to sand them down, but I could be way wrong, I live and learn. fendervg- even if Classic Parts were persuaded to remake these, they wouldn't come cheap either, look at the price for the roof rubber strips now, you could buy a whole working Car (maybe not a Corrado) for that sort of money, but someone / we Corrado lovers, must be buying enough for them to keep increasing prices. MJA 17 Posted May 19 (edited) That would look pretty good i reckon as well Dox. Yep 120-150 is now the going rate for a housing with a cracked fog in it. Ebay fees and vw tax inflating prices. I can't see VW Classics making anything for the Corrado. I've asked for various things to be made both by VW and the various manufactures such as that repro panel supplier beginning with "K" and the response is always the same - not enough Corrado volume to warrant making the parts. The smaller supplier such as Corrado Farm parts are a big help - I asked him recently if he would make RHD headlight lenses as he has recently made LHD versions and he said he has a set of RHD lenses he could reproduce and will consider it. If you look at Volkswagen Classic's heritage car fleet in Germany they have every VW EXCEPT the Corrado on their fleet maintained and ready to be used for press, events etc. Here is a walk around video of the warehouse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvuTfAuuZXw Edited May 19 by MJA

MJA 17 Posted May 19 yeah they have a storm in their museum but that place is their fleet of VWs they keep roadworthy to promote the brand and vw classics. They are usually press cars kept from day 1 but in some circumstances they have bought back from the private market to get on the fleet - G60 Golf for example was one. They even have a 2 cylinder TDI breadvan polo but no Corrados. Every generation of GTI which is understandable, passats, late beetles, sciroccos. Seems odd no Corrados (or maybe they think they have them covered with the sciroccos :D)

By clean I meant a I cleaned the housing really well... I broke the fog lenses with a hammer. The signals just pried off easy. That said there's that guy here on YouTube who removes them without breaking them. I think you need patience. But I do remember reading about a trick that I though to myself I would do if I wanted to save the lenses. And that was to use a fine steak knife or a fish filet knife. You heat up the tip, once real hot you bend the tip like 8mm to a 90 degree angle. That way you can slide it under the lense and cut clean the silicone. ABV-VR6 11 Posted May 19 Since there's been a lot of discussions about these, I went to snap a few pictures. The glass fog lenses from that Sprinter guy in Germany are perfect. They even have that little tab in the glass to install them the right way. I believe they are heat treated to be shatter proof as well unlike the OEM ones. They may be a tad more money but they fit 100% perfect without the needs of modifications. I'm totally satisfied with those. Looking at them closely, I can read VXT on the lenses. I'm assuming they are the same as VXTuning in the USA. So if you want those, pick the cheapest option I guess?
ABV-VR6 11 Posted May 19 Now for the signals, that's another story... I ordered the lenses for the signals from the same person in Germany. The quality is very nice, lenses are super clear. But what I don't like at all is that his lenses don't have that lip around, they're just flat. I asked him if he had sent me the wrong ones? No, he said in his experience, 9 out of 10 lenses when removed, the lip on the frame brakes so his asking to grind it off in order to install his lenses. Well, I guess I'm in the 1 of 10 because my frames are not broken at all. And they are a good 5mm thinner so they will not fit flush with the rest. Picture shows his on the left and oem on the right side. Maybe it's more explanatory than me describing... So I'm giving it a shot with CFP. Got a set but unfortunately one is twisted and can't be installed. But he has amazing service, sending me another pair at the moment. What I can say for now is they have the lip like OEM's and the plastic looks way more sturdy than even the original ones. I'm impressed so far, just need to have a set of straight ones so I can install and have my final words on them.

Keyo 41 Posted May 21 (edited) Managed to use my channel tickets after the Kamei kit German abortion . Left the Midlands at 2am this morning 3hrs to Folkestone - a 2 hr drive to Zwalm in Belgium - managed to buy these for 50 percent cheaper then the uk - with costs of travel I estimate a savings of around £800 - well worth a long day out. Kevin the Belguim seller had some absolute minters - a G60 edition MK2- Caddy mod car- and I mean an absolute minter of a clipper that was for sale for a bargain 5k euro - I mean the car was immacualte- what a bargain but a left hooker. Still some good buys out there must be willing to travel - its a good day out- Belgium I dont think I saw one piece of litter - very tidy place indeed. For the Mk2 . Bauhaus 3 Posted May 27 I can confirm that both late and early grills will inter change on a early body G60. The tabs are in different position between the two styles and the late have extra ones but all the slots are still there on the slam panel to accommodate both types and I see no reason why the late body slam panel should also have the extra slots . Also had a look at my stash of grills and there are at least 3 styles of grill as follows Top Early 7 slat grill 535 853 653 Mid Late 4 slat grill 535 853 653 A which has open slates Bottom Late 4 slat grill 535 853 653 B which has the top 3 slats closed off. Nice good info mate- Ihave owned the bottom two but not the top one- the bottom one is for very late cars that mostly came on N Reg cars - Vince told me they were covered to get the engine up to temp so the loop kicks in quicker for emissions - but shite for cooling. Yes I heard those late one at the bottom were on very late cars here in the UK but also heard they were fitted on the VR6 cars that were exported to colder climates. I use the later blocked off grill in the winter to get the engine temp up quicker.
Keyo 41 Posted May 28 (edited) Guys Ive been thinking off and on now for the last few months about the future of my G60. I really need to slim my collection down and to possibly pull some capital out for my garage build this summer - Im very close to putting up an advert - I dont expect the car to sell on here but thought I would post up the renovation work in case there is a prospective buyer that has been following my thread - its not a sales add as im still sitting on the fence a little but if anyone is interested you can Pm me - in this condition it will be marketed at 14,995 if it goes up for sale but open to offers if it does. Car would come with stock BBS RJ/RX 15 alloys - stock steering wheel. Thanks G60 Description - Renovation.odt Edited May 28 by Keyo
