Well she had a run out tonight and the ABS light stayed off, so result, thank you everyone. I also received the 2 litres of MT90 gearbox oil and a 17mm hex key today and had the pleasure of changing out the dirty brown stinky old oil. Β£45 for it all so very pleased with that. I was happy with how the gears changed anyway, but a swap won't hurt. That really was an easy job

Found it π€£. The awkward part for me was removing the c-ring clip as the gap is underneath. Took it apart and I did indeed have the dry soldered joint. I tested with an ohm meter before and was at around 580ohms. The little circuit board just came away from the plug pin connections. Cleaned up and resoldered, put back together and sealed with some clear silicone. Tested again and I now had 250 ohms all the way up to 1800ohms then infinity as the plunger is pushed. Happy with that and put back in the car. Hopefully it will get a run tonight and I shall have cured the ABS light coming on whilst driving. It obviously needed doing, so a big thanks for this Top Tip ππ

From my understanding ...... A standard speedline is ET43, so Et49 is 6mm further from the centre of the wheel to its mounting plate . But is that positive offset or negative... I hate wheels..

Just sent you a message to see if you receive it

I did reply π. πIf no one heard back maybe there was a gliche.. Anyway, toby what can we do to help. Previously you asked for help to sort the Wiki. This is what we all really want, so how can we achieve this. That would solve a big issue for us all π

Cheers Sean. I was thinking it was on the Abs pump ππ atleast I know where to look. Clue being in the name...brake pedal sensorππ
-
I need to research getting it out nowπ
-
Yes mate, it's all yours

That will take some looking back through my receipts. I am hoping some of the faults will have been there for years. I need to take her for a run and see what reappears. Hopefully this weekend

Looks lovely πAre the plug leads back in the correct order?
-
Well I thought I would plug my VCDS in to trouble shoot the ABS that comes on whilst driving. Thinking I was clever I ordered a 2+2 adaptor lead. Got that today, took the gear stick surround off, and I DON'T need it..... what a twat. I should have checked as the OBD2 plug goes straight in. So if anyone wants it, you can have it. I've read the fault codes and cleared them, so will see what appears after my next journey. I could have done this years ago!!!! I will post them up when the 'choose files' button below let's me...
-
Are any of your leads tight? Interestingly I have contacted mr retro about the leads being short. His answer was that I have bought the wrong ones as I should have bought OBD2 leads as mine is coil pack... WTF. So these are going back to him.
-
Culshaw, are you coil pack or distributor mate?
-
Okay, so I have just got the ones I took off out of the box to measure. I must be getting old as I noticed tiny writing on the ends and it they are Beru with the no. 030035255A 58, 71, 71, 87, 877, 98cm which means they are BERU ZEF1260 The fit of these was perfect for my coilpack, So my choice is narrowed down to the ZEF1260 or the Bosch ones which cross reference this part no. If anyone wants these new 8mm ones as I am going back to 7mm
-
That's what I would have thought too

Bosch Ignition Lead 0986356384 This is a genuine Bosch part and comes with an extended 5 Year Guarantee. This part is equivalent to the following part numbers: BOSCH: B 384, VW: 021 905 409 F, VW: 021 905 409 J, VW: 021 905 409 N, VW: 021 905 409 T, BERU: ZEF1260, BOSCH: B 384, BOUGICORD: 7153, BOUGICORD: 9529, BREMI: 212F200 Notes: Connector type: SAE, Outer diameter [mm]: 7 Sorry for the text size. I have managed to find some of your bosch ones I think.. 5yr guarantee looks good and just over Β£50. Still the cross reference is Beru 1260!! Honestly I cant see what difference the leads would between an ABV and AAA engine . Even the websites state differing lengths for the same model products.. beru Zef298 - 55,69,69,85,85,97cm beru Zef1260 -58,71,71,87,87,98cm I will measure what my old ones are today

ππ Conflicting info..... I have contacted them and there reply is that I should have ZEF298 Mine is a coilpack so awaiting crazy confirmation. I spoke with TPS and he gave me a genuine part number to cross reference 357 998 031. Yet with other suppliers that use this part say NOT for my vehicle WTF Keyo is yours distributor or Coilpack Cheers everyone.

I have emailed them. Cheers for that π
-
I will look for them. Unfortunately I received some ebay leads today.... Mr Retro leads. Look good and I went for the 8mm, which are hard to fit in the lead covers clips. 1 lead about 5cm too long 2 leads are slightly tight on the length. It revs great though, but my tickover doesnt seem the best π©

I would definitely trace the wiring back and remove it, as I dont believe it is original. Good luck with sorting this though
-
Cheers dox. I never new about that peddle sensor and after reading up on it, that will be an interesting one to sort !! π€
