  1. I'm from Farnborough, Hants as well!
  2. I used to run one of the original Snap-Off bosses on my MKII years ago and it was excellent - very well engineered, no play whatsoever and not too thick either. I would fit one to my Corrado if I could get one as, although I know if someone professional really wants the car you won't stop them, the extra security of having it in the garage with the steering on full lock, steering lock engaged and wheel removed, along with the alarm and immobiliser, is going to make their life as difficult as possible.

    Wanted vdo gauge

I think he's after the OEM all in one centre console unit mate http://m.vwheritage.com/classic/#/classic/?sSearchText=536919527&btnSearch=Search Gone up a bit recently - now at £183. The loom is easily made up using the sunroof motor plug off a Corrado/Golf III/B3/4 Passat. If you want second hand they don't crop up very often but worth hanging on as I got a set on here for an absolute screaming bargain of a price :)
  4. Can any of you recommend a decent quality textured paint for painting plastics? I want to paint my SWG scuttle to give it a bit more of a factory look... Cheers :)
  5. Yep think that's it. Not sure from an MOT point of view but I suppose you could use any colour you like. I get my stuff from EL Wirecraft. You can get the stuff cheaper from China on eBay if you don't mind a bit of a wait, but the bloke at EL is absolutely spot on - you can ring him and if you have a problem with any of his gear, he goes way out of his way put it right.
  6. Pretty easy really - piece of EL tape in the colour you want the symbol to be and some clear acetate with the symbol of your choice printed on it. You could cover the bezel surround in pretty much anything you like really, although if you were going to use leather I think you would probably need it split quite thin.
  7. Oh go on then seeing as everyone else is lashing pics up. This is about as good a side profile as I've got
  8. There's a few cheap 1/43 1/87 ones on eBay at the minute mic
  9. Mines low but not ridiculously low. I like the fact my car handles really well and can just about get over speed bumps. Plus I'm too old for a slammed car now :(
  10. If you look at the bottom right hand corner David, the glass has a slightly different radius to the backing. Funnily enough it looks a lot worse in the picture and it's not actually that bad in reality. I can live with it anyway and it's a vast improvement on what was there before.
  11. Mine arrived today and they do look decent enough quality. I did order the plastic backing but opted to use the original ones. Had to cut new slots for the heating element terminals and the glass is a very slightly different shape on one corner but you'd never notice unless it was pointed out and other than that the fit is excellent. One thing I did do was use a small piece of double sided tape on the second one I did, as the adhesive backing didn't quite reach the edge of the plastic mounting. All in all though I'm very happy especially for £8.50 a side delivered :)
  12. Nice one I'll have it mate cheers. I'll PM you for more details
  13. Haha - I take it as a compliment Paddy  There aren't any new ones listed for sale on eBay at the moment but your best bet would be the link in my op, they're £5 cheaper than they usually are on eBay
  14. There's a three page thread about this very subject one below yours! I know the search on here is **** poor but come on man... Anyway don't listen to Sean - I've just ordered the blue tint ones from eBay and I know they're gonna be awesome :D
  15. I'm interested - where are you located Ryan?
  16. Just placed my order and got a special "Buy One Get One Half Price" offer when I checked out. So a pair of blue heated convex mirrors for £17.98 delivered - result! :)
  17. Just bought the one in my op. Got it on eBay for £25. Looks really well put together, especially for the money. Will see how long it lasts but first impressions are very good and the led bit is an excellent idea.
  18. Thanks for the advice gents. Just ordered a pair of these http://bit.ly/1ao7Egn
  19. Right I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but if you were ordering new mirror glass, would you usually have convex glass on the drivers side, passenger side or both? I'm only asking as mine need replacing but they both seem to be flat...
  20. Just thought I'd update this in case it helps anyone else. Took the mirror off and stripped it down today. Two of the plastic mounting posts that secure the mirror housing to the actual mirror had snapped off. Used a bit of superglue, a bit of liquid epoxy and a bit of Milliput and it's all back together and as good as new :)
  21. I think if you're doing it properly there's clips you need to buy from the dealer, but like I said mines bodged. You'll also need the plug and wires which you can also buy from the dealer or if you have a scrappy near you it's the same plug as the MKIII Golf, B3 B4 Passat, Corrado sunroof motor plug. Then it's just a case of wiring it up. The best way is to run a wire straight to the battery for the live, maybe putting a relay in line if you don't want it on all the time. Alternatively run it off the glove box light which is what I done (it's not as accurate but does the job). It is backlit and looks great at night so get the lighting feed from the cigar lighter illumination, find a nice earth and then finally run a wire into the engine bay for the sender. I went through a grommet on the passenger side behind the parcel shelf below the glove box. It's actually really easy but I'm not great at "how tos" as you can tell
  22. Hmmm mine was a slightly *ahem* "bespoke" fitting as the tabs had been removed so I'm not sure what the correct way of doing it would be mate sorry. I had to remove the ashtray and the lighter ( I took the light feed from the lighter) for the wiring anyway so I would say yes you need to remove them. Good luck with it if you need any other advice give us a shout and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction :)
  23. Teng - had most of mine twenty odd years and only broken one item and that was down to misuse. Only heard good things about Halfords Pro range too so well worth a look.
