  1. £4.40+VAT from VW for the one I had a couple of months ago.
  2. Hmm, everything to hand there then, never stuck for pen when you need one!
  3. GTi R? It would end in tears
  4. Yes, every time, I do have Vagcom though so it's no problem. The write up states there's no point doing all the other stuff if you don't check the Basic Settings but the first time I read about the whole procedure in the Sprinter years ago there was no mention of this so I don't know for sure what's right. The engine definitely feels better after the first few minutes from starting though.
  5. Sometimes after the battery has been disconnected mine feels no different, other times it feels rough but does seem to improve after driving for a while. I go through the basic setting routine anyway, it's a good excuse to go out for a drive around for half an hour
  6. You gotta say that's a fairly comprehensive reply
  7. I'm more of the opinion that the wheels are "over-cared"?

I knew somebody would comment as I was writing that, I just expected it to be dinkus!

Can't say I've ever figured out a pretty way to do it and I've owned Corrados for 12 years now. Just get hold of the two sides, pull hard and wiggle the whole thing about, it'll come eventually. There can't be many have not been out at some time over the years for stereo and alarm installs. When I did the climatronic install mine was in and out loads to get the size right as I had to cut about three inches off the back and shape it a lot to clear the huge heater box, it does get easier with repetition!

    Mini Me

Welcome to the forum peppyuk, you wanna be careful hanging around here with all this talk of keeping it standard, they'll not let ya! It'll start easy, maybe some different lights or a couple of new gauges then before you realise it you'll be looking at inlet manifolds, exhausts, induction kits, and how about forced induction? Enjoy!
  12. I bought one from Machine Mart last year for about £130, it's ideal for small work in the garage and takes up very little room. They have a huge range to choose from so there should be something for every taste.

    roof strips

I trimmed the perished bit off mine and they look a whole load better. Still can't get rid of the white staining on the remaining part though no matter how much I try, has anyone had any success cleaning them up?
  14. Gonna be looking around £9.5K if you're interested??? Ebony black, full black leather recaro interior, black tints (sorta black really!), 265bhp with Revo map, Bose stereo, 18" RS4 reps and tar-ox front brakes.
  15. Last March I bought an S3 and the VR was going, in my eyes it was getting old, unreliable and I spend too much time away to leave my wife at home with a car she had to keep getting help with. After six months driving the S3 she decided that although she liked the comfort, power and everything else about it she still prefered the old Rado. As I had a couple of months between contracts I spent a bit of time sorting things out, tidied up the bodywork, refurbed the wheels, fitted climate control etc, I just added a Schrick for a bit more grunt. My next contract is out of the country again and we don't need a car parked in the garage for me, the Corrado stays, the S3 is for sale, enough said!
  16. That all depends on how well you know the MOT tester
  17. I can't imagine driving a car with the throttle pedal at the same height as the brake, you'd not be able to heel/toe on downshifts and that's not right
  18. Had a similar thing years ago with an Astra GTE, turned out the 110/95W headlight bulbs were drawing more current than the dip switch could handle and it was getting hot and smoking.
  19. Hillman Imp with Greetham Engineering 998 engine, twin 40 Webbers, lowered on Spax adjustables, Viva (yes Vauxhall) front disk conversion, 12" 5 spoke slots and real black glass rather than modern stick on stuff. Plus a zillion other mods only my bank manager could possibly tell you about. I'm sure it would seem pretty tame these days but almost 25 years ago it was a flying machine! And you think Corrados are unreliable
  20. I thought about buying the DIY kit yesterday when I was in Halfrauds as I just bought my daughter a Ka that seems to have very weak aircon but then figured if I spent the £30 or so on the stuff and it didn't work as it needed to be vacced down I may as well have visited the local a/c man. I've spent a bit of money there in the past with a new compresor/regas for the S3 and then a gas job on the Corrado climatronic install so I'm sure he owes me a free check on the Ka! That said, if anyone has any good experience of the Halfrauds kit I'm willing to listen. :)

Yes, I fitted one when I did the climatronic as it was already getting close in there!

Good work Tony, whered you end up taking the supplies from?? Was it a squeeze to get in?? I took the supplies for the controller from the ECU in the end, pins 22 and 23 after reading a post from cheesewire on fitting a schrick. The vacuum was easy as I already have a tank for the climatronic so I just robbed the connection to that, need to get a T piece for it later as the a/c only blows on the screen at the minute! It was a major squeeze to get in though. As you suggested the front panel had to come out to get at some of the bolts, I managed to get the rad/condensor assembly a bit further forwards on the driver's side (maybe 10mm) but then had to mod one of the condensor brackets to get the headlight back in. I also packed the driver's side fan away from the fan bracket by 5mm to stop it rubbing on the schrick, it's about 2mm clear of the rad now though! Last job of course I had to grind a lump out of the bonnet rib for clearance.

Fitting that is a good day's work, still needs a bit of tidying up but I'm hungry! Drives well though 8)

I was looking for a photo on my pc of the condensor/rad install but don't seem to have one. To get it to fit I had to carve lumps out of the front panel by the driver's side headlight and through the top of the slam panel and plastic panel for one of the pipe fittings. Also the driver's side fixing brakets top and bottom of the rad are moved back by approx 40mm. The condensor was originally in a Passat so they must have more room to play with under there. That said the plastic panel is still in the right place, albeit a bit modified so I might be OK.

Can't wait Goldie, just hope I can squeeze it in past the rad as mine sits a whole lot further back than standard due to the huge climatronic condensor I had to get in there last winter, I can see it being something of a challenge! Reminds me that just a year ago the Corrado was abandoned in my garage with plans of selling up and now I'm on the look out for grey recaros, planning an HID conversion and maybe 268s too. It's a bit like when I bought my first valver 12 years ago
