It's the 130 PD engine. Usually kick out 145bhp & 230lb.ft when run-in. People have seen 185-195bhp & 320lb.ft when remapped/chipped!! The clutch is the weak point though. Continued use of all that torque can lead to clutch slip or, at worst case, a dead clutch!

It's even better when you can buy from the internet & have £885 worth of options, but still be cheaper that a standard spec model from the dealer!!

Haven't been on here for quite a while, but just dropped by to show you my new motor. Hope you like!........ & no jokes please!

Hi Tony, As you know, I was shocked when you told me over the phone. A cracked piston sounds like a worst-case scenario. Get the lads at the garage to show you the piston. Most common things to go wrong are piston rings or a valve. Dubcharged, I left the chip in the car when I sold it.

I've found someting on this link http://www.corrado-club.com/corrado/ Go to FAQ/ Tech tip & then find thermostat replacement. It doesn't actually say which particualr model it is for though.

Never done it myself, but apparently, it's absolute nightmare to change.

The Scooby is a nice motor. I was considering buying an absolute mint example from a work mate, but worked out the running costs & decided it was too expensive. Performance - well, on the open road there won't be a lot in it compared with the VR6. Although the Scooby has power, the weight is a little heavier & the turbo needs winding up for full boost. The VR6 has better mid range grunt & sounds fantastic, but so does that off beat flat four. On a track day, it's different story. This is where the scooby will excel. The grip in & out of corners is brilliant & at silly speeds they are in their element. Styling & looks - The Turbos look OK but not outstanding IMO. The STI is better. I don't think there is a better looking coupe than the Corrado! I'm also a Rallying fan, in fact I like all types of motosport. The Scooby is a rally legend, but there are so many on the roads now. The Corrado VR6 is more of a rareity on the roads. I liked driving my Corrado G60 for the sheer head turning ability.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I usually pay abut £26 with my discount.(Ithink it's £18 for the oil & £8 for the filter)

The fuse for the mirrors is no. 14 & it should be a 15A fuse. I think it's on the same circuit as the reversing lights, so if they don't work then chances are the fuse has gone.

There's a few discussions going on about this subject. The 16V was designed to take 98RON, but some can run on 95RON without pinking. Optimax is 98RON, so I would spend the extra pence over super unleaded and run it on Optimax.

Try:- http://www.vw-corrado-club.co.uk/main.htm Look on the Downloads section. It has the VAG brochures downloadable as PDF files.
-
It was an optional extra on G60's. I' not sure if they were available for the early 16v's aswell.

The ECU takes time to read the signal from the WOT switch. The SNS chips over-ride this signal & immediately richens up the mixture.

Car looks nice mate. Wheels are Montreals from the early Mk2 Golf 16V. I had a spare set when I had my Golf 16V....ah memories!!! 15's look better on the Corrados.

A couple of things annoy me:- People who do 40-50mph on roads which have the national speed limit & then continue to do 40-50mph in a 30mph zone. People who don't use their mirrors or indicators. But the one thing that really makes my blood boil is, PEOPLE WHO INSIST ON SITTING IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A MOTORWAY EVEN WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN THE LEFT LANE :x
