  1. gavin has just rebushed my belt tensioner for me as the rubber bushes in it were pretty well disintegrated which cant be good for preventing belt slip, It is an excellent job, two nice new poly bushes have been pressed in, He also noticed my tensioner has an extra shim on it which should be good for preventing belt slipping, Also got him to send me down one of his headlight looms which is really well made, All in all top marks and if anyone is in need of having their tensioner restored or a headlight loom send him a PM,, :D :thumbleft:
  2. i know someone with a sump,, ill pm you their e mail
  3. been offered a tsr pack C 8v head from a PB (na digifant golf gti mk2 8v motor) was thinking as it will bolt straight up of using it on my G60 PG engine,,, the head has stainless steel valves of 40mm inlet diameter and 35 exhaust, should provide a good hike in power,, just worried the non g60 head will cause me any probs, ie not heat treated aswell? are the waterways inside the same, non sodium filled exhaust valves etc,, your views will be kindly recieved so type away,,, :D

    Con Rods

std 8v rods are longer than the g60 rods, 144mm as oppose to 138mm i think?
  5. i take your views on board kev, but i do lots of trackdays (not in my corrado in my golf) so i am quite aware where the limit of adhesion is,, probably why i like the feel that polys give, Oh and i live in the middle of nowhere in Devon,, nice smooth roads what are they?!?!?!? just because i like them doesent mean everyone else will, the person must make there own decision after scrutinising all our views and deciding what pros and cons the different options have related the their individual needs.
  6. well i like my poly ones, no rattling creaking nothing, if people want to upgrade handling then put poly ones in if they want to restore it to factory feel then fit the VAG ones,, people have their own opinions and experiences,, but for me its powerflex polyurethane all the way!!!
  7. its not quite so refined on poor road surfaces, but not really much worse, maybe if your sat in the back, my cars quite noisy full stop because of my exhaust and rsr charger outlet,, overall though dont think i would go back to std bushes,, i prefer how the car feels with poly bushes in the rear, if you do buy them make sure you get good quality ones like powerflex, i have a race poly bush set in my mk1 and they are really hard and they do transmit vibrations etc,, excellent for track use but a no-no on a road car,,
  8. i have powerflex throughout on mine, including the rear beam, and its very sure footed and predictable, i have done thgis as i have used this set up in both my mk1 and mk2 golfs, think all this passive rear steer stuff is just hype, stick some proper bushes in there and locate that rear beam firmly,,, makes the car feel so much tighter on the limit, and i have a proper tool for installing standard rear beam bushes so i didnt change them for ease of fitment either,,, 2p,,
  9. looks like my house on a sat morn, all the local vw lot bring there cars up and ask me to look at them, fixing whatever has happened during the week, drives the neighbours nuts ,
  10. cool, ill have a read, look forward to recieveing your PM
  11. he he dont think its the problem with the cars, its just us owners, we cant stop messing with them!!
  12. your going to be looking at approx £2500 if you fit it yourself realistically, for a fully mappable ignition and fuelling set up, it is quite allot of money, but the difference is this will be the same everytime you start the car and you can get it mapped perfectly to your engine whereas with the carbs you wont have such constant performance everytime you start up, also with throttle bodies the mpg would be better than carbs,, you can get the same sort of peak power with k jet, its just resposiveness and gain throughout the rev range you get with ITB`s, the car we put throttle bodies on produces 199.7 bhp on stealths rollers, but this is with all the other mods done aswell, flowed head shrick 268/276 cams 4 branch maniufold, 2.5 inch exhaust, you really need the whole package for this set up to work, think of throttle bodies as the icing on the cake of all your other mods,, just simply bolting a set on will not neccesarily give you gains unless all the other relavant parts are in place,,
  13. a weber alpha kit? better off with throttle bodies if you can afford them i converted a 2ltr 16v golf to this set up with a badger 5 throttle body kit,, its just been featured in the golf mag,, on the 16v group thrash at bruntingthorpe,, see http://www.badger5.co.uk for the throttle body kit,
  14. anyone tried this on a G60? fitting a kit along with a new IHI turbo on my mates 1.8t mk4 at the mo (ex jabbasport 400bhp demo car) and the water injection side is simple enough, wondeing if it woudl eb a worthwhile investement on my g60, also require info on where to mount the jets on a g60, seen some of the g40 owners fit one before the intercooler and another before the throttle body,, also has anyone had any luck with other water injection kits apart from aquamist? :?:
  15. should be able too its a good material thickness there, sand down and go over with some stopper, (really fine filler)
  16. cheers, getting used to them now, ill post up another pic with them both in,,
  17. just swapped these lights in, which do you think are best? standard or tinted top ones? :?:
  18. my car had a nasty scorpin dtm on it when i got it, so i removed the box, chopped off the dtm`s with a 9" angle grinder, and replaced them with two straight pieces of 3" polished stainless steel tube,,, much better now,, dtm was awfull came halfway up the bumper on a terrible angle,,
  19. mega clean, makes mine look filthy,, I best get polishing before malvern next weekend!
  20. mine is currently suffering from the haywire grade 2 failure  since the first week i bought it,, (that was 2 years ago still aint fixed it!!) maybe oneday
  21. the mods continue, so which lights do you prefer? standard? :?: or golf 16v style? 8) not quite sure myself but have the 16v style ones in at the mo
  22. 30mpg for a 1.8 valver is really really good, most 1.8 16v golfs will only just do about that and your car is much heavier,,
  23. some peeps have fitted them however it is not a starightforward job as it doesent physically fit between the headlinghts, do a search on biggerbigben and g-man they have both managed to get these coolers to fit,, seems the easiest to fit are the golf g60 ones or the jabba kit,, bith are pretty expensive though!!

    16v CAI

may be better taking the inlet out of the front right hand corner so you can run a large pipe, 80mm or so, down the original carbon canister hole,(not sure if the 16v`s had a canister but if not there will be a plate where the hole is that`ll just tap out with a mallet done this on my golf`s),,, strove motorsport did an induction kit a little similar to this it may be worth you having a search on there for more ideas, looks like a quality piece of work so far
