garmany is rather like france then with the amount of spares you have to carry with you by law - my dad has pretty much the same in his golf for when he goes to the house in france could i ask what the combined compressor/battery starter is pls? PS i really like your wheels lol
-
me also but i keep them in the glove box lol fortunately i have a 3 relay loom in both rado's & as such when the VR popped a relay i only lost 1 side of normal beam, which was helpful as i was driving home at night at the time
-
tidy motor :) have a look to see if you can find an uprated headlight loom. if it has one it could be a failed relay that is causing your main beam not to work most looms have 2 relays - 1 for normal beam & 1 for main beam but some have 3, where there is a relay for each side of normal beam

apologies, i didnt see your reply to my reply by all means have a look at my build thread as it has some pics of my white 1.8 16v - it is not exactly for sale at the moment but i could possibly be tempted to part with it for the right person & price http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44751-g0ldf1ng3r-s-VR6-amp-1-8-16V/page5&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r PM me if you want any specific info

good points Jim, all of which i understand but id describe as fishy rather than jarring lol it would be fairly easily resolved, in respect to if had been hit in the rear, by checking inside boot etc
-
6.9 according to the manual (found in a post comment by Kev Bacon) i agree on the badges, both VR6 & storm on the wrong side - which would make me question the paint work on the rear! has it 1. been shunted in rear end, had it repaired & the numpty in the body shop didnt know (or look) where to put those badges or 2. had a respray but that would alarm me at the 47K miles as surely one with such low miles wouldnt need a respray

i use ring xenon ultima in both my rado's,both with uprated looms

shocking! hope they find it & a good result for Ken -
blimey! my 1.8 16v does around 180 miles on £25 worth of vpower which, depending on the rapid fluctuation of fuel prices, is normally about 5 gallons my daily commute is about 15 miles & mostly 30 & 40mph roads

my G reg 16v is a 1990 & passed 177777 yesterday - i originally owned it from 2000 to 2006 IIRC, then brought it back in 2014. i thik it was around 90k ish when i 1st owned it but am waiting for the DVLA to send the owner data to me as the folder full of history which went when i sold it had been lost when i brought it back my VR6 is a 95 & on about 171 with a top end rebuild & some breathing done at around 153K. ive had this about 6 years, brought at about 94K

thanks that is very helpful so, about £140 for 288 refurb, plus £40 ish for the calipers themselves goodridge hoses at £114 best part of £300 & still need discs & pads do people normally sell the carriers & any bolts needed with the 288 calipers? -
very understandable sentiment Jim & sensible too i just simply wouldnt be able to outlay anything like that - it is not far off what my mortgage repayment is lol
-
whoa!!! that is some outlay - £3666 per year or £305 per month reaffirms why i dont look at new cars as i would never afford that lol

i see - now that makes much more sense if you already have parts -

i appreciate your thoughts thanks Dox a question if i may - what would make you choose the 288 route over the hispec route? i would imagine that once a refurb cost to refresh the 288 calipers was added to the other parts it would push the total to near the hispec cost for brand new kit also the stated 'popular choice' on the billet 4 have 38mm pistons - does anyone know the 288 piston size? -

quality & budget are always a determining factor ive checked the wiki & unfortunately nothing about 288's - also struggling to find a decent thread in drivetrain section however, there is a 312 setup estimation - which without pads is already at £350 -

i understand your point but to go to 288's will need all of the other parts replacing too, not just calipers & they would be used & of unknown quality once ive added all the discs, pads, carriers, bolts, hoses etc the total cost could be very close has anyone got a ball park figure to go to 288's? -

good point thanks Mic personally, the pedal feel on my VR is terrible compared to my valver yes my abs is not the best but since moving to USR discs & green stuff pads i dont lock up anymore when heavy braking, which was done very easily on the prior genuine VW discs/pads, but unless you stomp on the VR pedal it is very squidgy even when you stomp on it it is only very firm for a moment & then it depresses further my main issue with bigger brakes is most need bigger wheels, which pushes the costs way out of reach AFAIK only 288's will fit under a 15" speedline & if i was to invest in those i would be buying calipers which are second hand & thus i have no idea of their 'real' condition whilst also needing all the other parts too - i am going to try & compare the cost if i can whereas obviously the hispec would be all fresh & new etc as for pads Mic - hispec gave me a price of £43.50 for a pair of EBC green stuff - which from memory is pretty good & nowhere near the bespoke prices you mention i believe the hoses are very good value too as £20 odd a side seems cheaper than goodridge braids for example - unless they are non-braided but i think they were -

i dont believe 312's will fit under a 15" speedline though will they? -

i am of the same train of thought Jim - the temptation to be able to have some much better stopping power without having to also invest in new wheels is rather enticing think i may ring them & ask for the template thingy which you cut out & put inside your wheel to confirm they will fit -

ok i called hi-spec today to check out their offering which can fit under (or should) a 15" speedline I must say i was pleasantly surprised billet 4 kit, comprising of calipers, discs, brackets & bolts etc for £5oo +vat ish (i say ish as they offer anodised or painted at different costs) for those in the trade they do a 20% discount if ordered by the company kit comes minus pads & hoses (as they need banjo's) but hoses are about £20 each side & then a range of pads on offer i wonder what the offset against say a 288mm upgrade would be - as for that i would also need new discs, hoses etc etc
