I've bought some small items off nk in the past - he wasn't always that overprices - he seems to have jacked up all the prices (adding Corrado tax and multiplying by at least two) in the last couple of years - but then he woudn't be the only one doing that. Anything I bought was genuine VW and new, and had no problems. It's not cheap, but I've seen much worse rip-offs. What was the last VAG dealer list price anyway?

A bargain at double the price! [emoji41] Still cheaper than a replacement screen and all the attendant hassle, unless you can get it done on insurance.

I've seen billet casings for the 044 that hook straight onto the swirl pot mounts in the bottom of the tank, if it's of any use - like anything that is billet they don't seem to be cheap though. Having taken a couple of in-tank pumps apart, if you can get a pump body that is the same dimensions (could be trial and error) you should be able to fit it into the existing swirl pot assembly, which means you retain the the original fuel sender float assembly.

Often a bit of copper grease on the back of the pads (not the side facing the disc) will sort this out - could also be a sign of a seizing piston in the calliper. Alternatively, some pads will just squeal like a pig - I had this with Ferrodo DS2500s, and while they were great at stopping, they produced a lot of noise and dust. For the last few years I've just been running the OE discs and pads from VW, and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Sometimes convex was fitted to the passenger side, especially in Europe. It’s possible he replaced yours with a LH drive replacement, as normal ones are well nigh impossible to source. If you can get it off you could check the part number on the back of the plastic casing - if it’s a cheap replacement it will likely just be glass that is stuck on.

Golf 3 is different, the part number indicates that it is a Corrado specific item - but if you ask on the Facebook Corrado groups or put a post in the "Wanted" section on here, there are always a few cars being broken for parts. I wouldn't be too confident that the bracket would come off without damage, so if it was me I would probably just buy the part - do a careful search and it might turn up cheaper elsewhere.

Unfortunately the 535 at the beginning means it is a Corrado specific part - the first three digits indicate the Medellin number. Maybe it would be possible to remove the mount from a car that is being broken for parts if the bonding is not too strong?

The part number suffix (letter) can change to indicate a later version or substitution. Hella are a good brand - chances are the VW one is made by them or by Bosch, so I wouldn't worry about quality. The relay can go bad over time - a good way to test this is to jumper the connection the relay makes with a short length of wire - this should run your pump directly. It's a fairly common relay and should be easy to source. -
Good to hear - it's probably just that VAG have decided to stop stocking it as the owners that would be looking for it will only annoy them with queries for obsolete parts and obscure ETKA lookups! It think the Quantum Silver has gone through a few name changes anyway, but 10w40 will always be in demand for a long time to come. Pity we don't have TPS here in Ireland.

It's pretty common, and unfortunately can be hard to diagnose - a search on here for VR6 idle and cut out will give you plenty of food for thought. Have you had the car scanned? This would be my first step. Next would be the PCV valve and hose between the rocker cover and the air inlet elbow - check, clean or replace. Also a back square baffle box on the right of the rocker cover near the auxiliary water pump. There is also a mess of vac tubing behind the airbox for the activated carbon canister etc. Then you have things like the hall sender near the coil pack or on the distributor, MAF, etc., but a scan for fault codes would help with these.

The Bentley was/is an expensive factory authorised compiled reproduction of the US market VW dealer repair database - it covers the G60 and SLC/2.8 VR6 engines, but not the 16/8v/2.9, although the VR engines are more or less identical and the others can be found in the Haynes series. Everything else - brakes, chassis, body and interior and most electrics is the same. It's the only, albeit incomplete, resource for the Corrado. Watch out for differences in the wiring diagrams. What VW stuff do you have? Most 80/90s stuff was on now defunct microfiche, or came in individual ble/white VAG service and repair booklets. Most of these were in German and an English set for UK/Europe cars is very hard to find. Rear axle and front subframe will be exactly the same details in both. Hope that clears it up a bit with the risk of confusing things even more. But if you have actual english language UK Corrado manuals, I'd say there might be a few here interested in them - there was an effort to scan some of these in the past but I think it never got finished.

Really depends on the exact symptoms - the ECUs can become water damaged or suffer from intermittent earths, and the loom connector can be become corroded - but it's relatively rare. Best bet would be to scan, and then start checking all the wiring to the various sensors and the sensors themselves. I guess if you can get hold of an equivalent know good ECU, it's easy to swap them as a test as long as it's not one with an immobiliser.

I've heard that rumoured - I tend to order direct from VW Classic Parts when I can, as you then don't have to wait for a monthly shipment to the UK if Heritage don't have it in stock locally. Never had issues with damage and packaging, although I've never ordered large panels.

They (Quantum) still seem to make at least 3 semi-synths conforming to VW 501.01/505.00 at 10w-40 https://quantum-oils.com/index.php/en/products/lubricants-cars#VENTUS Maybe one of those would be a suitable replacement? I've been using Liqui-Moly 10w40 recently from my local German car specialist, an seems to be fine.

On the Nakamichis,, the 35/40/45 have different face plates for amber or green illumination - I think the only way to be sure is to check with the seller. The later CD300/400/500 let you choose the illumination style, but they don't look quite as good in the dash in my opinion as they are little more modern in design.

No, sadly they don't have an amp or line out - this you only get on far more expensive aftermarket units. I think you'll struggle to find an OEM head unit that has a line out for an amp. The Gamma 4 has 4x20w output on the standard ISO speaker connector.

There seem to be lot of them all over eBay, especially .de, if you want to buy one. You won't find many for sale in the UK as the cars shipped to the UK without a stereo, and the dealers would fit Sony/Panasonic units. There's nothing wrong with the Blaupunkt Freiburg - is it the illumination that is not green? The stereo itself looks period correct. I wouldn't be spending a fortune on a cassette head unit - there's not many that would spot that it's not the correct one for the year, or even worse the ones that would know will tell you that the Gamma 3 was never available in the UK! Hell, I think I even have a couple of factory radio DIN blanks with the VW logo and holders for the two plugs on the back stashed away somewhere - now that would be really authentic poverty spec from the 80s! That's the way they were sold here in Ireland.

Sorry Keyo - just have a spare Gamma 4 in case mine breaks, the VDO as an experiment and a Nak CD500 that I'm keeping for another car - none of them for sale at the moment. When you say Gamma 3, do you mean the CD player version that only works with active speakers and has no on-board amp stage? To be honest, they look the part but are not worth the hassle as they are overpriced due to rarity and you need the matching speakers which were never that great to begin with and are likely tired or shot and past their sell by date at this stage.

This is the VDO Hyundai CD/Radio unit (I think these were fitted to lots of different models) on top, Gamma IV on the bottom. The VDO lights up green and has a CD player built in, and looks like it would suit the dash quite well - maybe the pre facelift ones more than the later cars, because it is a bit more squared off. It has a telephone mute, and can also take a CD changer, and there is a dedicated iPod module with cable, but I haven't got a line in working yet or fitted the unit to the car. Hope all this helps - of course there are many older Blaupunkt units that would also work - the new one is nice, but too expensive for me and doesn't have CD changer control, which I think should have been there. Some of the older Becker units are also nice, but pricey. Note that VAG had a whole range of Beta 2/3/4 and Gamma 3/4 head units, so there's plenty to choose from.

This is the Gamma IV, same as what Keyo has above. This has some nice features, 4x20w, CD changer control, greem dimmable lights, code protection and red anti-theft LED, telephone mute, speed dependent volume control (GALA) when connected to the the blue/white speed sensor signal and can be retrofitted with aux in, bluetooth or iPod adapter using the CD changer inputs - there's even a guy in Germany who retrofits a hardwired aux in cable with 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth 5.0 module for a pretty penny, which means you can retain the CD changer. The cassette flap makes it a lot less attractive to thieves than a fancier unit - and you can even play you Awesome Mix Vol. 1! There is an identical looking radio with blue/red illumination rather than the original green, so be careful to check this when buying.

This was a Nakamichi CD-35z that I used to have, watch out when buying these online as they come with both amber and green removable face platest and only some have RDS. Only the higher end 40/45 and CD400/500 have aux in, and some also have a remote control. The illumination is not dimmable btw.
