Got my car back yesterday after having the engine replaced and its spot on, feels even better and more powerful than it did with the old engine.

Its good to put the car into a garage and not have to worry that they dont know what there doing, if your not too far from Awesome and needing work done then I highly recommend them.

Thanks to Gavin (H100VW) for recommending them to me in the first place as well.

Awesome is far away from Glasgow, Joe??

Not that Im needing anything at the moment, but just out of interest what logistics did you use to get your car done down there?

I was at a trackday at Oulton Park, which is 25 miles from Awesome GTi, my engine blew and I didnt have any breakdown recovery so it was easier and cheaper to get the bus home and get the car taken to Awesome for diagnosis.

I managed to source a replacement engine down south from a burnt out auto corrado with 69k on it for cheap as it was a bit black and covered in melted plastic. I decided it would be best to just have it delivered to Awesome and let them fit it instead of the hassle of getting the car home, or to Star Performance.

Lower mileage, s/hand unit. Its from an auto as well so wont have been thrashed the same as a manual engine would have been. Andy at Awesome said internally it looked brand new. :D

Got the schrick and cams swapped over and think im gonnae keep it that way now. Theres really no need for the car to be any faster on the sort of roads ive been driving on recently up here. :twisted:

Well, I'm back in the saddle again. And what do I reckon on Awesome?

 

Place is tidy, people are freindly, service is good, my Miltek sounds great and my car now goes round corners like it was meant to.

 

I'm eating crips butties for the next six months like, but there you go.

 

Overall very happy. (if a bit skint)
