G60Jet 1 Posted January 16, 2003 Look for a VW oil filter, anything else wont do, VW oil filters offer finer oil filtration than after market items. Why is this important, Cos the charger needs clean oil. A charger rebuild Certificate is a good idea, along with service history, timing belt changes etc. a normal charger rebuild should be done every 70-80k and stage 4 type needs doing every 40k ish. Remove the big charger outlet pipe and check for oil, some oil is normal, but if its there in teaspoon fulls then the oil seals in the charger are gone. When mine went oil started finding its way back to the airbox too. Check the oil cap and expansion tank for mayo, should be clean. Then all the usual checks, check inside the fuel flap and see if the drain hole is clear, always a sign of a good owner if thats clean.
vr6storm 0 Posted January 16, 2003 hi mate, Has anybody out there in forum land got any piccies of green corrados? Are they rare-ish I'm going to look at one tomorrow. Fingers crossed i'm afraid if you're thinking of this g-60 being the same colour as my storm, then you will be dissapointed  ,here is a list of green colour codes for corrados Dark Green Metallic LD6U 90 Green Pearl Effect LC6V 90 - 93 Khaki Pearl Effect LC6Z 92 - 93 Classic Green Pearl Effect LC6U 93 & 95 Dragon Green Pearl Effect LC6P 94 as you can see it will either be the dark green metallic or the green pearl effect....a small chance of it being the khaki pearl effect(mega-rare btw  ) anyway the way to check is,there should be a "mailshot" size sticker on the inside of the rear panel with the relative colour code,or an orange-red smallish sticker on the inside of the o/s/f wing anyway i would check that the g-lader(supercharger) has been overhauled recently, the timing belt has been changed, all the electrics work, the spoiler rises and lowers at the correct speed(45+mph and 12- mph),sunroof opens and closes without twisting,abs-if fitted, the light goes out within seconds of starting, mfa works, that the tyres are wearing evenly, that the rear calipers aren't sticking and that the door handles aren't too stiff£45 ea +fitting etc best  to take a mechanic with you or better still get it checked over by a vw-specialist(who should know the problems a corrado can throw up) and of course get its finance/insurance history checked hth and let us know how you get on

leew 0 Posted January 16, 2003 Thanks for all your help. I'll let you know how I get on, getting a bit nervous now :?
Jim 2 Posted January 16, 2003 Nothing to worry about mate - at the end of the day, the guy trying to sell the car to you is going to be nervous. Go with that little checklist - ask the relevant questions, and you'll blow his cover way before he manages to try and trick you :)

leew 0 Posted January 17, 2003 I BOUGHT IT!!!   Check it out. :D It has a Ottiger or something front grill. I'm not sure if I like it. Does anybody know what they are worth?
Jon TDI 0 Posted January 17, 2003 Looking Good Lee. I don't know how much the grille is worth, but Oettinger are a very reputable German tuning & styling company. Probably worth quite a bit.
dazzyvr6 0 Posted January 17, 2003 very nice...like that colour a lot
W3RKD 0 Posted January 17, 2003 i will give you £50 for the grill if you want to sell it?
vr6storm 0 Posted January 17, 2003 well done m8...she's a looker,i take it all our buying advice helped you as for the oettinger grille....not really a fan of it,luckily it doesn't look like the matching oettinger bodykit is fitted...as that really spoils the lines of the corrado, anyway the grille would be fairly rare but will also look fairly dated, get on the phone to gpc and order a vr6 grille, only £23+vat+carriage,and that will give it a fresher look 8) imo i like the alloys too btw....what are they borbet c's? dan 0 Posted January 17, 2003 That's a real nice looking example you've found there leew. 8) Wish you all the best of luck with it.
