Stan 24v 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Due to my alternator llighting blackpool tower, it has decided to blow my resistor pack on my fans (0 & 4 ie off & on work, but nothing in between). Can these be sourced separately? Are they easy to fit? Where is the best placde for one? Cheers
Steve16v 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Just change the thermal fuse in the resistor pack itself, there is a guide on here somewhere on how to do it. Fuses can be got from Maplins (Just fixed my resitor pack on Monday!)

olly elworthy 0 Posted September 15, 2005 gotta fix mine too,, mine went a couple weeks ago,,, which temperature fuse did you go for?
Steve16v 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Its a handy fix, just make sure to use a needle nosed pliers as a heat sink when soldering in the fuse, otherwise it will probably blow

olly elworthy 0 Posted September 15, 2005 cool i best order mine then, Ill prob order a few as i will have to pay postage anyhow, so if i get some and anyone else needs one they can get one from me, should work out cheaper as it will only cost the price of a stamp to post them instead of the £3 odd that maplins charge

RW1 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Apart from Stan's "voltage" problem, if the thermal fuse blows, it's worth.... Checking the fan bottom bearing is OK. It usually needs a spot of grease. It's this bearing that to get stiff with time and thus pushes the thermal fuse until it finally gives up. .
Cougar 0 Posted September 20, 2005 Or, as in my case, the motor bottom bushing oblonged and the shaft wobbles about drawing too much current.
Supercharged 2 Posted September 20, 2005 I think it was mentioned that Hotpoint washing machine bushes can be used as a replacement... (lol)

Son of a Beesting 0 Posted April 3, 2007 I was just about to start this job. One question though, why do you remove the whole unit? Cant you just take the little metal tab with all the electrical gubbins on it off? This way would seem easier?
Stan 24v 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Its a pain in the a*se to get to mate, its just easier to take it out.
