chrishill 0 Posted November 28, 2005 fecking typical, just as winters really setting in and I need it, the heater blower goes and dies on me. It had been working fine, if a bit noisy at times, then last night I turned it on to demist the windscreen and it ran for a few seconds, started kicking out a horrible smell and then stopped. its not blowing on any setting at all, so i'm guessing its not the common thermo resistor fault, does the smell mean its burnt itself out and is utterly goosed? and yup i've used the search, but most threads seem to relate to the thermo resistor. :)

Walesy 0 Posted November 28, 2005 well...you're probebly best of waiting for an 'expert' rather than taking the village idiot's word for it....maybe its the 'newness' wearing in?
H8RRA 0 Posted November 28, 2005 shirly a passat or seat item would suffice? - never needed to try it yet but whip it out and have a dodge into a local scrappy to compare
chrishill 0 Posted November 28, 2005 I think they're the same as mk2 golf units asside from the resistor pack, which can be swapped to give 4 speeds rather than the golfs 3. I might just take the plunge and buy a gsf one for £60 since it sort-of needs fixing ASAP and I dont know when I'll be able to get to the scrappys! I'll stick a wanted ad up for now just in case... trev-b 0 Posted November 30, 2005 The mk2 golf ones definitly do work when you swap the resistor pack as i just put a Mk2 GTI one in mine, prob just about as bad condition though being so old.
