bigbluec 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Hi Guys, The C has been on good behaviour for months! but this week has decided to blow the same fuse twice, the fuse covers the fuel/temp gauge, rev counter MFA and warning lamps. both times its been when i've nailed it in second gear is it a voltage controller playing up or something else? The C's a 1990 1.8 KR if that makes any difference to the wiring loom? Cheers in advance....
RW1 0 Posted November 28, 2005 The spoiler also hangs off that circuit if it's fuse No.16?? .
bigbluec 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Yeah forgot to mention spoiler! Any ideas?
RW1 0 Posted November 28, 2005 There is nothing linked to the engine or anything I can see that would do it obviously. Spoiler is the only obvious candidate but why only under hard acceleration does not make sense. I just wonder if there is a loose wire somewhere that manages to swing and touch when the car is pushed. The rest of the circuits is just as you say plus all the dash illumination points including the glove box light. And the radio's ignition feed is linked to the fused circuit. . bigbluec 0 Posted December 1, 2005 Cheers RW1 thought it might be the stereo as i'd fitted new speakers and wiring in the front but it turns out that there's a leak in the boot which has got to the spoiler electrics causing it. Just need a slightly drier day to sort it out! The hard acceleration in second would also tie it to the spoiler as when it hit 50 it activated the spoiler circuit! 2_Door_fun 0 Posted January 17, 2007 How did this thread pan out? New car n a few gremlins at the fusebox. Got my spoiler workin the otherday. Some grease and the manual knob works fine. Fitted a new fuse n all is well. Pops up at around 40 my old C popped at 80??? Seemed stiff at 1st prob not been workin for a while. So when I boot the car Spoiler works then I notice that it hasn't dropped down. Get home spoiler fuse is blown?? Twice now. If I just drive and accelerate at a normal pace all seems fine? Albie 0 Posted April 4, 2007 This is happening to me too. It seems to be because the spoiler is free on the way up, but when it comes to drop again it binds running the motor at stall and therefore blowing the fuse. I would guess that a strip down and regrease would cure it. Just done mine, good luck with the dismantling, it's a bitch. Tee hee! edit: Oops, just seen the date! Guess you have it sorted one way or the other by now.
