chrishill 0 Posted December 17, 2005 first of the 'sorry, its not a corrado' posts from me :) I'll try and keep them to a minimum, just I know you lot will know this. I'm going to put my momo s/wheel on the mk3, but its got an airbag, I dont fancy it going off in my face really so does anyone know how to deactivate it and safely remove it? ta! CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 17, 2005 disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or more. It will be safe to remove after that. Store it in the boot out of harms way.
Phil K 0 Posted December 17, 2005 Think you need to VAG-COM it to get it to turn the airbag light out after removal too... or just pull the clocks out and remove the bulb
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 17, 2005 If its just the one air bag do as Phil K said and remove the Bulb,Vag Com wont be able to disable bulb because it recognizes the air bag is not there so a fault code will appear. If it has more than one air bag then a resister is needed to fool the Airbag ECU to think there is one still there. So then the light will work normally and the other airbags will function to.
