Indicators - UPDATE

Recommended Posts

Tootling along in traffic and when I came to change lanes I found no clicky noise when indicating.

I've done a search and tested things which I read about and this is what I've found.

Alarm DOES activate the indicators, all of them.

Can't indicate left or right via stalk.

When I press the hazard switch, the light inside the switch itself stays on permanently but theres no indicators working.

Might be un-related but also noticed that my driver side full beam bulb has gone.

Can't do much to the car where it is now as far as swapping anything around.

Fuse appears to be ok.

Cheers!

Well, they've started working again! No probs at all?

The only thing I can think it might be, is that I was in heavy traffic for at least 40mins, just crawling. It didn't get really hot or overheat but the fans were off and on a lot. Oil never went above 112c.

Could this be heat related as the ABS light came on as well, but that has also cured itself.

Heat issues a known thing on a VR?

Well, half way through a journey, they stopped workiong again. Then this morning they were fine?

And once more, half way through the journey back, they stopped working again?

I bet they're fine tomorrow!

Any thoughts?

more than likely your indicator flasher/relay is either loose (not pushed in properly) or faulty, if you unplug the relay the hazard switch does what you describe, so try that first, they will flash with the alarm as the alarm doesnt use the indicator relay to flash them, it applies the power directly to the indicators.

Cheers everyone my probem was the relay - it was the worong kind of relay! not a flasher relay......a quick swap and alls well.
