JT 0 Posted May 9, 2006 ok guys n girls how much weight do we think can be lost by removing the rear seats, carpet, basically everything from front seats back
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 9, 2006 Well, the ltd edition Mini and TT (the black roof one) both lost 50 kilos by losing the rear seats and the spare wheel. You should be lose similar as the rear back rests are pretty heavy, as is the spare wheel.....but the bum pads weigh feck all tho! 50 Kg is like carrying a MK2 Gearbox around in the boot permanently, so losing that should make the car feel a little sprightlier, but not by a huge amount. One thing I've found with Rados is they seem to like a lot of weight over the rear wheels, otherwise the steering gets light and woolly...
JT 0 Posted May 9, 2006 hi kev, so circa 50 kilos, i must admit since puting in the rear brace i have'nt noticed any difference in handling with the boot full or empty, (just goes round corners much quicker) but without it i agree it does feel a little better with stuff in the back... .A.N.T. 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Surely it's designed around having that weight there pushing down on the wheels. 50kg might make it quicker 0-60 in a straight line, but I quite like having the rear wheels firmly planted on the ground when I'm going round bends (at least on the road anyway...) A full fuel tank though must weight around 70kgs... Why not just drive around with no petrol in? Seems like a much easier option!!
