Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 24, 2006 Hi folks, After getting home lastnight and stopping on the drive, when i turned ignition off i heard a noise from behind dash that sounded like a sink draining and air rushing thru pipes etc it was from the passenger side. all my heating works etc, i did have the heating on while driving. is this to do with heater matrix? It been replaced once in the past. 1995 VR6 btw Many thanks
Blue_Joe 0 Posted August 24, 2006 Might be some air in the system????
Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 24, 2006 do i need to do something to get rid of it?
2cc 0 Posted August 24, 2006 The cooling system has an auxiliary pump which runs after engine switch off. It sits on the pass side rear top of the engine so is 'behind' the dash. Unusual to be able to hear it from inside the car so I'd tend to agree with Blue_Joe that there may be air in the system and/or the aux pump may be on its way out and become very noisy. Just open the bonnet and turn on the ign and you will be able to hear it spin up.
dinkus 10 Posted August 24, 2006 Have you got Air Con? If so, it's usual for it to gurgle a bit after you turn the ignition off, but no idea why.
