Want to buy new sunroof mechanism - right part number?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I would ideally like to buy a brand new fully assembled sunroof mechanism with a preassembled set of guides and cable etc... as I don't fancy fiddling about with the guides etc.

Is this the correct part number: 357 877 431 ?

Has anyone ordered one of these before and does anyone know a price?

Much appreciated.

Nick

Just looked it up.. around £500 to you sir!! Looks like it contains most of the parts but.. seriously for that price its gotta be worth buying the repair kit and getting stuck in!

The moon roof tempts me, I must say - but then it makes the car less original, and that puts me off a bit.

Got a price of £350 from GPC for the whole new sunroof - starting to think I may just go down that route. At least I know it will work and will have been assembled properly... i.e. not by me.

What I can't tell from ETKA is whether the frame actually comes with the guides and cables. It should do, but the dealers don't know for sure...

£350?????????????????????????????????????????

L:ook for corrados being broken online, and get a second hand one for £50.

Or buy the kit, pay a mechanic £40 to fix it in for you.

£350 is too much imo.

Okay - I came to my senses and opted for a Passat B4 moonroof. Came from an N reg car - what I have noticed is that there are small gaps around the seal all the way round. The corrado steel roof measures 2mm longer than the Passat.

Should I not worry about it and rely on the drain and gutter system in the mechanism?

What have others done about the gap?

I believe the gaps are normal mate.. should be ok still!

Well - this is not working out well for me at all so far :(

The gaps are causing water to come in and drip into the interior.

Looking at the design, it seems that there are only channels on the left, right and the edge nearest to the windscreen. The back edge has no drainage channel on the mechanism frame and therefore water coming in there is going all over the place.

What are my options? Should I buy a new seal from VW? Is that possible? Has no-one else experienced leaks?

There is a clip in drip tray for the rear on passat moonroofs.

Its about 50mm wide and the length of the sunroof. As far as I remember it just clips into place and catches drips from underneath the joint. It is channel shaped and allows drips to run sideways into the side drainage.

Could be why you're leakink if you've not got one.
