Oil Temp Sender G60 Model!

I have replaced my oil temp sender because i over tightened it and is snapped, So i called up VW to order a new one, and i gave my Reg number ect... so i went to pick it up and it was completly wrong. So we ordered the one i had before by the part number on the broken sender. I have fitted it and im not gettin the correct reading at all, and my oil pressure worning come up for 5 mins evertime i start the car. Is it possiable that the sender is faulty?

 

This is the same as the sender that broke and now the new one is on and not giving correct reading.

This is the sender that VW ordered by my Reg Number, but i cant see how it would connect to the wiring loom.

Thats correct mate - just how they come now but you're right - they are not a straight fit...

 

The original spade has a locking tab on it you either need to remove this or reterminate it (best way)

 

The spade connector slides over the circle horizontally - so it looks like a T

 

(hopefully you'll see what i mean!)

I would't of thought that the oil temp sender should affect the oil pressure light.

I may be wrong though,i'll have to look at the wiring diagram.

 

The warning light/buzzer only stated coming on when you change the temp sender huh?

Possibly a stupid question, are you sure you removed the temp sender and not the oil pressure switch?

 

Just thinking if you took out the pressure switch and replaced it with a temp sender the warning might go off until the oil reaches 80 degrees and the temp sender starts sending signal, which would be about 5 mins as you describe!

 

Pressure switch is directly on top of oil filter housing and temp sender is much lcoser to the block.

 

Of course i may be completly wrong! dont know if its even possible to swap them by acident???
