MikeVR6 0 Posted August 19, 2008 Hi, I'm working in Belgium at the moment and will be for the foreseeable future. In the southern area where I'm based there don't seem to be any VW specialists, only the local main dealer. The cost of parts, never-mind labour is horrendous compared to the UK, not to mention the language barrier. I can nip across the channel on the Dover-Calais ferry and I was wondering if there are any VW specialists in the Dover area? Even up to a 40 mile radius. Just for normal servicing and MOT etc, I've had (touch wood) all the big jobs done already and I'm not doing a lot of mileage. As an example. Today I priced a pair of Dunlop SP Sport 2000E tyres. Locally 310€ fitted! That's £250! :censored: £140 for the tyres from mytyres.co.uk. At most another £20 for fitting in the UK. £160 all in. Petrol's more expensive here too. So maybe Britain ain't such a rip-off. (the Govt here really hate motorists!) :help:
MikeVR6 0 Posted August 20, 2008 Anyone? There must be someone who can recommend a place in the Dover area?
Guest Posted August 21, 2008 The best place i can recommend is GMS in Maidstone mate 01622686824, not that far from Dover up the M20 and only charges £35 an hour labour, both simon and andy (aka pumba & fat wallet  ) are former main dealer service manager/master tech, and really know their stuff, simon was my manager when i worked at JCB VW dealers and andy was the master tech, they branched off on their own about 5 years ago they look after loads of Kent Dubs, including my MK1, my old Rallye & VR6 Golfs and now my G60, ( ia actually bought the G60 from a customer of theirs  ) Digger B off the forum VR goes there, aswell as another lad i know with a tuned Rallye, they can do pretty much anything, from standard service stuff to mods and fitting aftermarket tuning stuff, suspension etc, give em a shout

mariojoshi 1 Posted August 21, 2008 Theres a place in Canterbury called Sam's Garage which is absolutely brilliant. throughout Uni, I trusted the car of my car to Sam and his team and was never anything but satisfied with the service. They gave me loads of free advice and had good prices too.
