Valerian 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Is the later dashboard the same as the early one. By this i mean the whole main part of the dash excluding the switches, controls and facia panels. I'm asking because i thought seeing as i'm going to take the dash out to replace my heater matrix i might as well fit a replacement dash in exchange for the one i have which is riddled with screw holes drilled by previous owners. shaung60 0 Posted January 26, 2009 No I believe it's slightly different. The plastic 'outer shell' is the same as are the fixing points through the bulkhead. It's the metal 'inner shell' that's different. The metal brackets behind the centre console below the heater controls are different. On the early dash the cubby hole behind the gearstick was shallow compared to the later cubby hole which was deeper. So if you try and fit a later centre console to an early dash you'll find it will foul against this bracket and won't fit without modification of some sort. So in theory you should be ok to fit a later dash shell and put an early centre console into it. Sorry for the waffle. Hope that makes sense.
Valerian 0 Posted January 27, 2009 It's just the whole dash outer that i was going to replace so i guess i should be ok unless anyone else can give me some input.
