VDO gauge pods? just the little plastic facia panel that fits below the ashtray. Found one on ebay with a proper VW part number, but its starting to go for silly money. How much is one worth?

They were £7 from VW but been obselete for a while now... usually go for £25ish now or £50+ with a gauges / brackets etc.

That's a little low based on recent prices, at least £30 without gauges.

 

If you want to fit 52mm gauges then the OE part is a lot better than the nasty aftermarket one that was being produced a while back.

i have one in the car now that isnt wired up. i dunno what its from but it doesnt fit flush to the top of the pod but sits nicely and snug further back. im sure i read it was from an audi of some sort but i dunno lol :confused4:

seriously, don't bother, they are crap plastic and don't fit very well, you can make one yourself that will look just as good, in fact probably better and without the round screw cap covers that are on the front, I bought mine about 10 years ago with all the proper fitting clips and brackets, it was a right bodge from VW.
