Dash switch illumination

Recommended Posts

I have recently joined the forum as a new owner of my dream car, a 94 VR6. After breaking down when driving it home, which was fixed with a new bonnet cabel (real pain) and a new battery, I am knocked out by the handling and performance. I have now added alarm and radio. I will tackle the interior misting and the nosiy dash when the weather improves.

Can you please provide me some advice as dash switches do not illuminate. That is the rearscreen heater, main beam, fog light, heaters switches and lighter. Can this be that all the bulbs have blown or is it a wiring issue? If it is the bulbs how do I relace them? Also should the rear mirrors heat?

Many thanks

Chris

Firstly, welcome. It is unlikely all the bulbs have gone. Not being funny, but have you tried adjusting the dimmer on the headlight switch - that effects the dashboard illumination. Otherwise I am fairly sure it is one fuse for most of that lot (try the search on here as it has been covered before).

The rear view mirrors are heated as standard (and run at the same time as the rear window demister) but often the contacts on the mirrors have corroded much that they no longer work.

Hi there, sounds like it might be the fuse? the fuse box is situated to the right of the steering wheel (in front of your right knee!) and on the back of the fuse box cover is a list of which fuse is which, that would be my first port of call :)

EDIT - oops, beaten to it !^^ :)
