jacko 0 Posted April 4, 2010 Ive got a strange problem with my electric windows on my 1.8 corrado. Ive tried a few searches but couldnt find any thing relivant. The problem is the windows will not wind down. i thought a fuse might of gone but i pressed the window button accidently when the door was open and they both work fine. Is there a fauly relay or some thing to allow the windows to only be opened when the door is open? i also noticed the reverse lights had stopped working around the same time the windows stopped working. Any advice would be good as driving down the road with the drivers door open to shut the windows isnt too safe!! Thanks
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted April 4, 2010 just out of interest open your door work the window button and at the smae time push the door pin switch in and out, tell me what happens.
jacko 0 Posted April 4, 2010 Right... just been out to the car. I tried pressing the door pin when the door was open with my finger on the window switch. As soon as the pin is pressed the window stops moving What does this mean?
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted April 4, 2010 it means there is nothing wrong with the wiring to the door, thats good, the door pin switchis is linked to the window controll unit that lives behing the osr quater trim. This probably means there is no ignition feed to the unit, you sure all the fuses are intact? or the unit itsself is faulty.
joby 0 Posted April 4, 2010 Ive just replaced my window control unit and its fixed the electric window fault but my revese lights are still not working (Cant see it having anything to do with the control box anyway) Replaced the fuse and switch so a bit baffled
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted April 4, 2010 the control unit is for windows only mate, you best bridging the switch accoss first and go from there?

Slimg60 0 Posted April 4, 2010 So the windows dont work with the door closed, but do with it open? Sounds like a wiring fault to me in the door loom (where the door hinges)
jacko 0 Posted July 11, 2010 update on this.... Ive still got the fault with the windows only working when the drivers door is open however if the passenger door is open the windows will not work. I have also recently noticed the reverse lights do not work so i checked the fuse and it had blown. replaced it, the reverse lights work fine and now the windows work perfectly until the fuse blew again! All seems a bit strange to me! Can any body shed some light on this?? Thanks
joby 0 Posted July 11, 2010 window control unit mate, Replaced mine and its sorted, It sits behind the drivers rear quarter panel pull that of and you will see a box with wires fed into it Replace it and it should sort it for you :)
