Rev counter removal

Recommended Posts

hi,

The rev counter on my 92 corrado VR6 is occasionally misbehaving.

When I tap the plastic in front of it, or go over a bump etc it drops to zero, and if I tap the plastic again it starts working again.

I want to check to see if there are any loose connections or joints behind the rev counter.

I’ve partially taken out the instrument panel, there is an electrical plug connection that I have disconnected, but there is also a pipe going into a connection with 2 small screws. Is this some kind of vacuum tube for the fuel gauge?

If so, can I just remove the 2 screws and unplug this? I don’t want to damage anything.

Once this is off and the instrument panel is completely out, how do I remove the rev counter unit? Does it just plug in – or is it soldered to the board behind it?

Thanks

John
