nlau1 0 Posted September 23, 2010 Hey guys and gals, Well I finally sold my BMW and bought my dad's VR6 off him! It was registered as a demonstrator from new and my dad was the second registered owner since 1995 and has covered less than 40k miles! The rain has spoilt any chance of pics, but I'll update the progress in this thread. There's a few things I need to do to it to tidy it up a bit! Thanks for reading and I hope I can tap into some of your help and knowledge in the process!

nlau1 0 Posted September 30, 2010 Guys and gals. So just a quick update and pics after a week of ownership! Well the interior was completely filthy, with 15 years of dirt and grime. I gave it a good scrub and 2 rounds of Vanish carpet cleaner later it looks as good as new, and some new grey mats are arriving soon. The weather has prevented me from getting any "after" pictures but I'll update with a lot more pics once it stops raining and I can detail the exterior as well. The next step was to remove all the ICE in the boot. My dad didn't really use the car as a daily driver so never needed the boot. Whereas I'll be using as my main car so I needed all the space I could get from the smallish boot. So it was big barrel sub out along with the amps and a new Kenwood KDC 3047a head unit fitted. The front discs were completely shot (brake judder) and were replaced with Brembo OEM discs at £42 a pair, bargain! 4 wheel alignment was done along with 2 new Uniroyal Rainsport 2's at the front so she drives perfectly now. The ABS light has also been on a while now so its going in to the VW specialists tomorrow to get that sorted out and to have the spongy throttle pedal checked out too. Next up are some new pedal rubbers and a real good wash, and detail of the exterior and maybe get the wheels refurbed.

nlau1 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Well, got the car back from Ron Turnbull VW Specialists this morning and thought I'd treat the VAJ to her first machine polish. The bodywork wasn't too bad with medium light swirls and very minor holograms. Gave her a wash and then polished with DA and Menzerna polish and sealant before a final coat of AG HD wax, and the results...
Jim 2 Posted October 2, 2010 Wow - stunning! It looks absolutely spectacular!
nlau1 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Cheers Jim, The Autoglym HD Wax really is superb stuff, especially on darker cars, a bit pricey but lasts a long time after each application and the tub will last at least 6 months!

nlau1 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Thanks for all the compliments guys, just nipped out to VW and picked up a couple of new rubber/plastic gaskets that sit under the wing mirrors. It'll be a door car off jobbie to disconnect the wiring for the mirrors so I'll update on the weekend when I get it done, weather permitting of course!
nlau1 0 Posted October 10, 2010 So managed to get the wing mirror gaskets changed today, was a door card off jobbie which was a bit of a pain but if you know how to get the door cards off then its a 30 minute job for both sides! Makes a big difference as the old pieces were falling apart! They were £6 a piece from VW. Before After I also had a chance to sort out the moss that was festering on the inside of the rubber trim on the passenger door, it looked disgusting from the inside of the car and almost every passenger notices it! Before After
Portent 0 Posted October 10, 2010 If you don't mind me asking, is blackberry more pink or purple? It's often hard to tell in pictures.
nlau1 0 Posted October 11, 2010 If you don't mind me asking, is blackberry more pink or purple? It's often hard to tell in pictures. It's really difficult to tell, especially depends on the light and the white balance setting on the camera! But to the naked eye, I'd say more purple. But in terms of purple its definitely closer to Pink than Blue on the spectrum!
