dragon green 5 Posted July 25, 2017 My trusted CTN gearbox decided it had enough The bearing in the pic decided to break up,throwing debris through the bell housing, causing a massive oil leak ! All my internals including my trusty wavetrac were transplanted into a second hand O2a box,all nearly seal and bearings, new clutch, and back running Bearing decided to break up,when I was crawling in traffic ! 237k now, another 1k and I've reached the moon, another 5k and I've personally done 200k
mic_VR 3 Posted July 26, 2017 Impressive mileage and hole in your gearbox!
dragon green 5 Posted February 25, 2018 Straight through the MOT a couple of weeks ago, mileage upto 243k, 201 all mine Snow forecast,so I dug out my winter wheels, snow tyres have just under 6mm, so all good
dragon green 5 Posted March 25, 2018 The drivers window mechanism gave up this week ☹️ Up in the loft to sort my spare mech’s out,3 passenger,2drivers Bit of a nightmare getting the old one out, properly fubared With the help of my brother holding the glass up,it wasn’t too hard replacing it Tip of the day,if you’re re-using the rubber bushes on the motor, drill out the old pop rivets with a left handed drill bit, with the drill in reverse, they just fall out ! I’ve got a small lathe I did mine in Mileage now up to 244k
fla 9 Posted March 25, 2018 Good work Dragon. These mechanisms are not ideal especially with the reliance on the integrity of the two plastic clips at the top and bottom Btw those estorils look brilliant! Any proper side shots on the car? I would love a set if they were in 16s and 5 stud
dragon green 5 Posted March 25, 2018 I haven’t got any side views with the black estorils You’ll have to wait until next snow fall lol
Jon_vr6 1 Posted March 26, 2018 The drivers window mechanism gave up this week ️ Up in the loft to sort my spare mech’s out,3 passenger,2drivers Bit of a nightmare getting the old one out, properly fubared With the help of my brother holding the glass up,it wasn’t too hard replacing it Tip of the day,if you’re re-using the rubber bushes on the motor, drill out the old pop rivets with a left handed drill bit, with the drill in reverse, they just fall out ! I’ve got a small lathe I did mine in Mileage now up to 244k We just cut a slit in the side of the rubber bush and the rivet fell out. Glued back together easy. How much of a pain it was to the mech back in won't want to do that job again in a hurry. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
dragon green 5 Posted August 14, 2018 Fixed my loose gear shifter surround, over the years the locating tabs broke,my spare one is my old grey one,so I fabricated a couple of brackets out of some thin aluminium angle I had laying about. Fits nice and snug now
dragon green 5 Posted February 9, 2019 Been a bit lazy on updating, had some bodywork done to keep the dreaded rust away Ended up having a complete re-spray apart from the bumpers !

dragon green 5 Posted February 15, 2020 Now I can post pics again, I’ll try and update a bit Got my self a performance head, new guides valves and ported, while the head was off, I dropped the pistons out,re-honed the bores and fitted new piston rings, checked all bearings, all good, so we left them alone ! I must stress, change the oil frequently, your engine will thank you

dragon green 5 Posted April 17, 2020 After a really good guy posted a how-to on one of the Corrado Facebook pages, I thought I’d have a go,Take the two Philips head screw out, take filler cap out and bung up hole with old rag.On the outside of the rubber, is a sprung wire, gently manipulate this out of the way (forward) then the rubber “boot” can be pulled out.Even though I jet wash this area often, this is what mine looked like !Using a variety of scrapers (screwdrivers) and a selection of small wire brushes, I got it clean. Luckily no rust under beneath the dirtThis is how much crap I got out, I cleaned the rubber boot/grommet, and it went back easier then it came out
fendervg 33 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) Been there, done that - probably need to do it again soon - it's an awful dirt trap, and there is no protective lining on the wheel housing there. That shovel is scary - looks like half a rear arch's worth there! As far as I know you can still get the rubber boot and metal circlip that secures it - I got mine a few years back. There was also a repair panel available for a Mk2 or 2 that could be used to fill any damage with a bit of fettling.
