r8umar 10 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi everyone, i am new to this site. Basicly i recently brought a corrado vr6 and the wing mirror switch is not adjusting the mirrors. the switch lights up but does not operate. i have checked the fuse and it is fine i did some research and it said inside the switch the copper contacts may need a rub down as they get corroded and then it would be as good as new. i opened the switch and the copper contacts were very corroded. after rubbing them down till they were clean and shiney i put the switch back together hoping that it would work... BUT it didnt! ::scratch:
Stonejag 10 Posted October 18, 2012 Don't worry, I did the same thing :) The switch is extremely sensitive to being put together misaligned or in the wrong order. If you gave it a smear of grease then it's even worse as it insulates the tracks... also make sure you have all the dog-bones in correctly and you've fitted all the sprung contacts the right way round (and in the right places). Mine's still not 100% even after a lot of fiddling. If all else fails, find a Mk3 Golf in a scrapyard and pinch the switch - if you take it apart, turn the L and R buttons through 180 degrees and reassemble it's a drop-in replacement :) Stone
r8umar 10 Posted October 18, 2012 thanks for the reply Stonejag, its aright pain in the arse as the mirrors are angled weird lol but thanks for the advice. ill give it another clean and put it back together but if that fails again ill be robbing a mk3 golf great idea didnt even think of that :D
Stonejag 10 Posted October 20, 2012 You can nudge them around manually if you're gentle. Just press gently on the top or sides of the mirror glass.
