Interior/electrics advice

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 1994 green VR6. Had it for a couple of years, had a bit of mechanical work done by the excellent guys at the Phirm, plus a bit of bodywork where needed. New suspension is also on the cards. However, the next project:

I have some time off work, plus a leather interior to be fitted. The plan is to strip the interior and also try and fix a few issues. I am not experienced, but am fairly logical and practical (computer programmer and Maths student), and reasonably good mechanically (done a lot of bicycle mechanics plus a bit on my motorbike). OK for a girl, anyway :)

Anyway, major issues are:

1) Windows do not work unless the doors are open. The fuses have been replaced several times, the windows work for a bit then the issue recurs. I think that something is causing the fuse to blow repeatedly.

2) Sunroof works intermittently.

3) Heater controls are sticky (I've seen the Sticky thread...)

So, I guess I'm looking for advice in terms of what order to tackle these jobs, any real gotchas or things to definitely do and not do. I've got plenty of time, my plan is to make lots of notes/labels and take photos as I go along.

Any advice welcome!

Thanks,

Em

Regarding the window issue -

When you have the door cards off it would pay you to pull the door looms out and remove the insulation tape.

check them and re wrap them.

The main feed wires corrode and fall to pieces
