dj b 10 Posted June 12, 2013 I have knackered my front drivers side headlight by trying out a hid bulb. it worked for a second then went out. I took it off and put my old one back in. My sunroof now doesnt work, or the interior lights also when I take my key out of the ignition it resets the clock on the dash. I had blown a couple of fuses in the main fusebox under the steering wheel so I changed them but it made no difference. is there another fuse box somewhere that I have missed? thanks. tony_ack 0 Posted June 12, 2013 There's only one fusebox, I think the fuse that controls all of those is the second one in from the pillar.
dj b 10 Posted June 12, 2013 I think your right its number 21 I think. ive changed it and still nothing so looks like ill have to bite the bullet and get an auto electrician out to it. I was hoping id missed one somewhere but doesnt look like it.
James. 9 Posted June 12, 2013 Try the load relief relay.
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted June 13, 2013 Also known as X-relief relay. If this has failed you will lose headlights, wipers, heater blower and ABS amongst others. Best wishes RB
dj b 10 Posted June 13, 2013 Thank you for that. do you know where about it is? im assuming its one of them above the fusebox. Thanks again.
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted June 13, 2013 It is one of the ones on the fuseboard, but I can't remeber which one offhand. I'll confirm later. It's not expensive, a fairly standard relay. RB
Mawrick 0 Posted June 13, 2013 If it's the load reduction relay I think it's the one stamped "18", and located in position 4:
dj b 10 Posted June 13, 2013 Thank you very much, you cant get much clearer than that! thanks for the info everyone ill go and have a look at it and see of its melted together or something. ive orderded one from vw it cost £15. hopefully thats the problem :-D
dj b 10 Posted June 13, 2013 I tried that took it out and the blowers stopped working but the headlights were still working on sidelights and high beam but only one headlight on low beam on the passenger side. sunroof and interior lights dont work and clocks reset. apart from that though everything else works ok. Mawrick 0 Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) I think there is a few fuses on the fan-control module in the engine compartment, and I *think* actually there is a fuse or two hidden in the back of the instrument cluster - not sure what they are for though. And doubt the fuses on the fan-control module is to blame - but never hurts to check though :) Fan control module: Edited June 14, 2013 by Mawrick
dj b 10 Posted June 13, 2013 I did see them and checked them I think one was a 5 amp and the other was a 20 amp. ill probably take the clocks out of the dash and have a look, see if I can find the other fuses and see if they are ok. thanks for all the help its greatly appreciated.
