tony_ack 0 Posted September 16, 2013 I got a key cut and coded at Harewood House a couple of years ago for about £25-£30 iirc, including the blank. That's probably the figure you should look at? The key snapped a few months later (luckily not in any locks), so I just swapped the transponder over into a new blank and got it cut at an independent. g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted September 16, 2013 if you have an old key you might be able to split the plastic apart & remove the coded chip so as to put in the newly cut key ;) i found this out when i changed my ignition barrel 2 years ago - when i ordered it VW assured me the keys werent coded but they definitley are

Dox 23 Posted September 16, 2013 If you have an aftermarket immobiliser fitted you could just tape the original key inside the ignition lock cowling and have another key cut. Plenty of engine transplants have the factory immobiliser defeated anyway.
